Editorial Review for Sun Liquor – by Jill Lightner

In Short
This snug lounge combines casual Capitol Hill friendliness with an almost theatrical vintage Asian backdrop, making it a neighborhood joint that doubles as an intimate date spot. Each tall, slim glass is garnished with a white orchid, a pretty detail that matches well with the fresh juices and expert cocktail blending. The brief food menu notes that all entrees are microwaved dinners, making it clear that food is not the focal point.

Insider Tips

What to Drink

The blended spearmint mojito is the epitome of summer refreshment, while the sweetly deceptive mai tai is a punch that packs a surprisingly serious punch.

I haven't been here on the weekends, but on the weeknights it's pretty quiet - it's a really nice spot to grab a drink and actually talk to someone. Their specialty is high end rum. Prices are very reasonable if you want to try something. Their mojito is to die for - the juice is fresh squeezed in front of you. It's a premium drink for a very low price - love it. Bartenders are very friendly. It's a really small neighborhood style bar which chic decor and great ambience, doesn't seem very popular yet - go here before it's discovered.

Pros: Lovely

Cons: none

Love it! Ambiance gets a 10, drinks tasty too. Looking for a chill spot to catch up with old friends, this is the place. Surrounding neighborhood is excellent for a late night walk under the stars. Quaint, but beautiful. Awesome staff. Definitely check it out!

Pros: Ambience, Drinks, most everything!

Cons: Few if any.... that I can remember

Pint-sized elegance describes both the space and the cocktails at this tiny, ornamental Capitol Hill hangout.  See the full editorial review.
