In Short – The subs speak for themselves: Loaded with premium Boar's Head meats and homemade marinara, pesto and salsa mayo, their New York influence is in every bite. The menu includes piles of ham, turkey, roast beef and a few specialties such as the "Other Coaster," made with three layers of rye, Russian dressing, coleslaw, Swiss and choice of turkey or roast beef. A hearty mouthful, the cafe provides a satisfying lunch--to say the least.

I want my $9.03 back

by queenanne11

I am sad to write this review, because Other Coast has been one of my favorites for sandwiches in Seattle for years. I love sandwiches. At Other Coast I got hooked on the vegan rueban. (I'm not vegan, it's just a really good sandwich). It had been a few months since I'd been there, so yesterday I called in an order, made a trip to the ATM, drove to Ballard, and picked up my sandwich. I was a little surprised to find that it was $9.00 for a HALF sandwich (on regular-sized sandwich bread), I can't recall if that's how much it's always been. Even for a really good sandwich, that's pretty steep. But sadly it was not the really good sandwich I used to love, it was terrible! I took a bite of my measly little sandwich, and the bread was so dry that it was like biting into a crouton. And all of the seitan and sauerkraut were so dried out and crunchy that it sounded like I was eating potato chips. I thought maybe it would get better once I got past the dried-out edge of the sandwich. Nope. The whole sandwich had the consistency jerky between old stale bread with a smear of spicy mustard. Horrible. If I wasn't in a hurry and starving I would have gone back in to see if they could try again. I will not be back. I'm incredibly irritated that I wasted $9 and the calories on something so inedible it didn't qualify as lunch.

**this is for the Ballard location. I posted it then realized it's in the wrong spot but can't erase it.**

This is the real sandwhich shop!

by hoggenstein

Seattle has some good food, but deli's are so missing. I don't understand how people get excited for Quizno's and Subway-- it boggles the mind of everyone who has ever lived on the right coast. Enter Other Coast Cafe... Delicious Boar's Head meats and sandwich's that are piled high with meat, cheese (real cheese!!!) and delicious veggies.

I am not going to recommend a particular sandwhich, but the hot ones are always awesome on these crappy Seattle days that we keep having. Just go there and give it a shot--and I think you'll kiss those Subway Meatball subs goodbye. (I hope!)

  • Pros: Real deli meats and cheeses, great selection
  • Cons: Long lines, somewhat irrelevant customer service.
