There are a ton of Vietnamese soup restaurants in Seattle, but this one stands out for its simple, clean, super-fresh vegetarian offerings. The pho is satisfying, but so are the various stir-fried dishes and the terrific noodle salad known as bun. Banh mi sammies are sold to-go only. Near the Seattle Center, so a good option for a quick pre-show meal.
This place is the BEST!!.
This is so not your average pho place!
Food - The pho broth is savory and delicious, and they don't use MSG in their food. Though it's hard for me to stray from my favorite (the pho), the spring rolls are absolutely tasty, and the short ribs are incredible, slightly crispy on the edges and marinated in something delicious (I have no idea what). I've brought a lot of friends here and every single one of them has loved it, no matter what they ordered. They serve a lot more than just pho, so there is always something for everyone.
Atmosphere - most pho restaurants I've been to are more like diners, where the idea is to get you in, feed you quickly, get your money and get you out. Pho Viet Anh is a real restaurant with nice atmosphere, reasonable prices, and excellent customer service. Henry the owner always makes us feel like special customers and the rest of the staff is always helpful and friendly.
Cleanliness - the other pho places I've been to, are fairly scary on the cleanliness scale. The spoons and tables often have sticky stuff on them, and the bathrooms are such that I have to force from my mind the idea that the cooks ever use them (and forget about going in them myself!). Pho Viet Anh is always clean and fresh - including the bathrooms.
Extra Stuff - They have a patio for outdoor dining and now serve beer and wine.
The only bad thing about Pho Viet Anh, is that I am ruined for other pho restaurants. After we had been going here for a couple of months, they were closed one day so we decided to go to another pho place. We left stinky from the smell of pho and feeling gross from all the MSG. I've never gone back to the other place and now that Pho Viet Anh is open on Sundays, I don't have to miss out any time I get the craving for my favorite comfort food.
I highly recommend this restaurant it has become one of my favorite places to eat.
Great food!.
The pho is delicious. Good broth, not too salty but very flavorful with fresh ingredients. The grilled pork and prawns must be tried. The rice paper spring rolls are also very tasty.
All the little touches that make Asian cuisine go from mediocre to great are here: the rice is well cooked; flavors are well-balanced; not too oily or heavy.
The restaurant is very clean and has a nice, mellow atmosphere. The owners and employees are all very friendly and courteous.
All this and the prices are extremely reasonable.
