HORRIBLE SALON. (mind you, before i tell this story i have a best friend who works for desert sun in everett on broadway, i know a little about how the salon works but not much. and that salon is a 10 in my book compared to this salon) Monday i went into the salon and i wanted to buy a packet of lotion because i accidently forgot mine at home. the employee told me a packet of SPELLBOUND(a 72$ lotion normally) was $18 and she could use my tan tax rebate to discount the price. After it came out to $14 something and she "threw in" another packet of lotion (which was crap lotion too) and said that if i ever forget again here is another one. While i was in the tanning bed i thought to myself, "this makes NO since because when my bestfriend sold me a packet of lotion for a $130 dollar lotion she charged me $10, and that was with NO discounts." so later that day i called my best friend and asked her if that made since to sell me that lotion for that much money and she said that the lotion packet is $8. I called into the everett salon and asked on of the employees there what i got charged for because clearly i didnt get charged for a packet of lotion and she told me that i got charged for a SPF LIP BALM!!!! the next day i go into bothell salon again and talk to another employee who kindly told me that she was not authorized to refund me my money and only her manager could do that. she said her manager would be in the next day. so i went in after work the next day to talk to the manager. i tried to tell her the situation, and she argued with me telling me a completely different story; she told me that her empoyee had rang it up under SPF lip balm because "spellbound" wasnt in the system, so she had to find something in similar price. and since there was nothing around 14$ she discounted the price and gave me an extra lotion to make it even. ALTHOUGH her story was so unbelieveable anyway, shouldnt the employee have explained that to me insted of lying to me saying that in the system it rang up as $18????? and when i told the manager what had really happened she informed me that she was not going to give me a refund because i didnt deserve one and she didnt have the ability. the funny part is that every tanning salon DOES have the ability she just wanted to be rude and not do it. after arguing back and fourth about it i settled with another packet of lotion. I will never go back to that salon again. PS. Theresa if youre reading this, I now know that NO PACKET of lotion is in the system and all you do is ring up the packets as $6 packet, $8 packet and $10 packet. good f'n TRY. and to everyone reading this, i hope that you have some knowledge now of how their system works so you dont get ripped off for your money and your mind. also, they get commision there, thats WHY that dumb employee did it

Why is it so hard to find decent customer service in a tanning salon?!
I had previously tanned at this location and was always pleased with the service; however, about a year ago I stopped going as the staff was always unpleasant and was quite rude if you did not want to buy from them. I tan several days a week, I'm sorry, but I cannot buy everytime! Of course, they ARE sales people and I understand that, but as a sales person myself, I know you should NOT be rude to your customers. Just because they don't buy now, doesn't mean they won't buy later, but once you put that bad taste in their mouth, they won't EVER buy from you. Also, I noticed the manager would often jump in on her employees sales and take over when they were doing fine on their own; it was quite evident as to what was going on-which looks bad not only on the manager, but on the company as well. I also spoke to her at one point regarding a change to my account, when that change did not take place, I went in again and spoke to her. Obviously, she thought I would not remember her, because she openly tried to blame it on her employee and called them incompetent while another employee (perhaps the one she was trying to blame) was standing right there. As a result, I would NEVER tan when the manager was in.
I stayed away for sometime, however, there is a real lack of high end salons here in WA, so I reluctantly went back. I walked in there one day hoping to tan before my vacation. There was only one girl working in the front and she was already talking to two girls, so I sat down off to the side and waited. When they left, she literally stared out the window for a minute or so-she did not acknowledge me at all! Finally, I said, "Hi, I wanted to check out your prices, I think I'm out of tans." She did not smile, did not say hello; she simply handed me a card/sheet with their membership prices. No explanation, nothing. At that point, I said thank you and left. She again, did not say one word to me.
BEST TANNING IN BOTHELL!!!. I have been going here for about 3 months now. I went to Seattle Sun Tan before I went to Desert Sun, and have noticed a huge improvement. The girls working here are all extremely nice and not bitchy like my previous experience. The salon is beautiful and CLEAN. The beds are amazing, and I pay basically half what I was paying through Seattle Sun Tan. I would recommend this location to anyone looking for somewhere to tan!!!!
