Menu changed for the worse

I've been a Palomino fan for years and have loved the expansive menu selection. You couldn't really go wrong with any of the choices. Imagine my surprise when we went there a few nights ago only to discover that they revised the entire menu. Gone were many tried and true favorites, only to be replaced by a narrow and less appealing selection. After looking through the new menu, I decided to stick to a "safe" option that Palomino is known for - roasted chicken. I was incredibly disappointed.
The chicken was dry and lacked any flavor. I can honestly say that the roast chicken at my local grocery store tasted superior to Palomino's roast chicken. The roasted vegetables were also flavorless. I wondered if they forgot to season the food altogether. I don't know what went wrong. It's as if along with the revised menu, the quality went down the tubes. The only redeeming part of the dinner experience was the Tiramisu and our nice server - at least this dessert was retained and tasted just as good as I can remember. The tiramisu and friendly server bumped this from a 0 to 1 star rating.
- Pros: Tiramisu, atmosphere, service
- Cons: New menu, dry chicken, food quality
Oh My God-

The system won't let me give it less than one start- Two of us stopped in late Saturday night- wasnt' busy which should have been a clue. Ordered a drink- the bartender had to check on pricing on a couple of different brands of scotch and then couldnt remember which of us had ordered which, one on the rocks, one neat. At this point a smell overcame us. It was as if smoeone had just taken off a pair of athletic shoes. I mentioned it to the server and he said he didn't smell anything, he must just be used to it. It was so bad we had to move- we moved to a table across the room. The floors were dirty, used napkins under tables after they had been re-set etc. We sat there for a while- were never approached by any staff to offer us another drink or refill water, not to mention never presenting a bill. Finally we were tired of waiting- despite multiple attempts to flag down staff- so we left money on the table and left. I doubt we will be back- there are too many other choices in the area- Try Pearl instead.
- Pros: Good Selection, Reasonable Prices
- Cons: service, dirty
Terrific happy hour and almost never a wait

The happy hour menu is great, I recommend trying the artichoke at least once. Most happy hour menu items are at or under $3 which means that the bar will be full and the service will be a little slower, this shouldn't stop you from trying it. You get food that tastes good (never bland) and it's a screaming deal.
I have gone for dinner but consider the service isn't much faster in the restaurant and I'm not getting happy hour pricing, it's not worth it to me.
- Pros: Great happy hour.
- Cons: Slow-ish service, this is not the fault of the waitstaff, it's generally busy and seems to be under staffed.
Happy Hour Review

Never been for actual dining, but have come here quite a few times for happy hour and have enjoyed each experience. There's a $3 beverage minimum for happy hour, so if I'm feeling like alcohol, I get one of their beers or strawberry lemonade if I want to keep things simple. I've sampled most of their happy hour menu items, but my favorites include the burger sliders - mini burgers (mini patties, mini toasted buns, cheese, onions, lettuce, and tomatoes, I think) that are sold for $1 each! So cheap, two of them usually leave me feeling decently satisfied if I'm only moderately hungry. I also enjoyed the santa fe flatbread; it's served pizza style. Lastly, the service is memorable - the staff is attentive and sincere. I don't normally think of service too much unless if it's completely horrendous, but the waitresses I encounter here are always so sweet.
Nice atmosphere, attentive staff

I have eaten here on numerous occasions since it opened. We have eaten with large and small groups, with and without reservations as well as around/on holidays. I love it here. I definitely recommend the hummus and the half sandwich/soup combo which also comes with a salad or french fries. The apple dessert is definitely more than you could handle with even someone to share with. I have not experienced any issues in the bar or any problems with inconsistent staff. This is definitely the place to take people for good comfort food. The only time I havent been there is for breakfast, which I keep meaning on trying to catch.
- Pros: Very reasonable prices, always tasty food
- Cons: Desserts are too big, even for two people!
