What People Are Saying About Oasis Cafe

If you love actual sushi rolls and sashimi, I'd go here. The owners used to be in Burien and when they moved, it was the saddest thing ever. My family and I really missed their sushi. Their sushi rolls (soft crab, caterpillar, etc.) are super good and fresh. Service is always great because like the person before said, the waitress cares. I'd say the only bad thing when you're craving their sushi food is finding parking, but that's just the neighborhood. If I lived there, I'd walk over...the walkability seems pretty nice.

I was one of their best customers when Oasis first opened over 2 years ago. Unfortunately the restaurant went through some major changes, both in quality and ownership and I stopped going. So I decided to try it since I walk by a few times a week and have noticed from the outside some changes. The first thing that I noticed was it seemed "cleaner" than it had in the past, less stuff on the floor and more organized at the front counter. I was there with a friend and it was right past 11:15am so they had just opened for the day, no one was at the front so we seated ourselves but not before announcing that we were there. The lady who came out was friendly and I sensed a really good vibe and energy from her. The menu had changed, more items added, the prices had increased for lunch (specials) so I figured it had gone through a major ownership change, I was correct. Out was the "old crew" with their cheap food, uncertain portions and poor service. In was this new person who seemed to actually care. We struck up a conversation and I told her about my previous experiences and why I no longer came in there. I think she thought I was a reviewer or food critic or something. I ordered a Spicy Chicken Bento Box ($10.99, I think) and it was alot of food, well prepared and presented. But first came the fresh crisp salad with ranch dressing and miso soup. Both typical and pleasant. I enjoyed my meal especially the tempura, cooked perfectly. These new owners didn't skimp, hopefully that will last. She asked if everything was alright and even made suggestions when my friend wanted the Chicken Katsu, but he had his mind set on it and was overall satisfied with his choice. Although he did say it was a few bucks more than it should be for lunch, but it had great flavors. All in all, I was pleasantly satisfied and will return to try dinner there to see if that has also improved. Oh, the music comment made earlier- it's changed to something instrumental and not loud!

We needed a quick bite before attending the theatre and raced around the block in the pouring rain. When we found a restaurant called Oasis, that seemed prophetic. We were happy to see a huge range of tea at the front door. Unfortunately that was where the experience started to go downhill. The ambience was not bad except for the blaring "Greatest Love Songs of the 80s." Our waitress sweetly assured us that all of our food choices were "awesome" which immediately made me nervous. I ordered the tofu bento box. My husband ordered two sushi rolls. My avocado roll, four small pieces, was fresh and tasty. The rice was decent. The stir fried tofu suffered under what my husband terms "goopy sauce," an overly sweet, thick sauce that drowned what would have been normal, fresh veggies and deep fried tofu. Two friend egg roll type things (what were they?) tasted exactly like they came from Trader Joe's frozen best and were accompanied by an alarmingly red-hued sweet sauce. The iceberg lettuce was doused in mayonnaise sauce. I have honestly had better meals at Sea-Tac airport, and, the stir fry tasted like it came pre-cooked from the food court at Southcenter mall. As we left, we told a couple at the door "it's not that great." They left. I hope they found a better meal nearby.
