I've been a dabbler my whole life. The Original Pancake House is my absolute opposite. While they do have a few other breakfast options their laser focus is on one thing, dutch babies, and I'm thankful it is. Arrive early to avoid the crowds.
Editorial Review. Dutch babies and humongous pancakes are this Ballard diner's claim to fame, though there's a full menu of breakfast standards.
Good eats, easy on the wallet.
OPH has been a Crown Hill establishment since Fall 2004, consistently delivering great breakfasts at an affordable price. If you're looking for a quiet place to have breakfast, look elsewhere. This is a neighborhood breakfast hangout where most of the seating is at communal tables. It's a great place to take the kids and get to know your neighbors.
Must haves are the apple pancake, dutch baby and their hot chocolate, although my favorite lately has been their spectacular potato pancakes. Be aware, though, the apple pancake and dutch baby can take up to half an hour to make, especially if they're busy. The waitstaff is usually prompt, but can have lapses at times (forgetting to refill water glasses and coffee mugs).
This restaurant can be packed on the weekends, so call ahead to put your name on their waiting list.
