The characters that come in and out of Rose Petal are as much a part of the ambiance as the Christmas decorations that are a permanent, year-round fixture here. Order your food at the window in the front and choose between the plain-Jane front room and the ridiculously over-decorated barroom. Dishes that scream the heritage of the chef are the only options, from stewed pork neck to the sides of ham-studded collard greens and buttery-delicious yams. While they are often out of items, worry not, as everything is good. You can order a drink from the neon index cards that list the prices in the bar and play a game of darts while you wait, or just wander the room studying the various jazz inspired pictures that dot the walls.
