What Our Expert Scouts Are Saying

Evo
Evo, the local hipster outdoor equipment and clothing retailer, celebrated its new store opening the first week of November. You can count on a full party atmosphere as they celebrate for weeks to come. Whether you’re a two-planker, shredder, boarder, or skater, you’re guaranteed to find high quality gear and garb for winter and summer sports at this Fremont fun zone. The young and the young at heart will be impressed by both the selection of brands, price ranges and customer service.

best ski / snowboard shop in town. evo rules. i've been to dozens of their events and parties and have had the best customer service of any store ever whether I'm buying snowboard gear, ski gear or clothing. a few things i like:

-Art gallery in the store

-even larger selection on www . evo . com with a massive outlet section

-"real" sales staff, not the stuck up "bro brahs" you might expect

- knowledgeable

- fair and honest (have resolved issues for me and made me aware of sale prices when I was willing to pay more)

I wish more stores offered the same product selection, experience and service but no other stores even hold a candle.

Poor customer service. Bought a $300 pair of snowboard boots last year from them. The boots locking system was failing so brought them in several times to be repaired by a competent employee. However they kept failing (the locking system wouldn't disengage. Yea almost had to cut the cables at the ski area to drive home. Evo told me they'd talk to the manufacture, they did. Then they said they'd send them off to be repaired, they did. However the problem began 1 year ago, they talked the manufacturer 6 months ago and I gave them the boots 4 months ago. So I still get the old "let me check with the manufacturer" story. When I spend $300 on a piece of gear I want a guarantee against defects and I want the problem solved at the store. Give me another pair of boots then YOU worry about the manufacturer! Evo has dropped the ball on this one and lost a customer. I'll be buying all my snowboard gear from REI from now on. At REI if it's not working for you they take it back. If there are defects they give your money back and deal with the manufacturer on their time and their dime. For Evo to charge premium prices for gear they should act like a premium shop, period.

Great shopping experience. Hip clothes with great customer service.. My friend introduced me to EVO and I've been a loyal customer ever since. The employees give great service, they have spent a lot of attention to me when I am undecisive at the jewelry counter. They have jewelry from local designers, not too pricey and unique. I recommend you sign up for email newsletters - they will ask for your email when checking out - and they will keep you posted of upcoming sales or events at the store. They keep a fun inventory of clothing, mostly geared towards the snowboarding/skiing industries, but reasonably fashionable reaching across generations - I've witnessed many moms and daughters shopping together there.

Editorial Review. Fremont ski and snowboard shop also hosts music, film and art events in its warehouse-like space.
