Covington's Thai.
My favorite kind of food to eat is Thai. I love trying and finding new restaurants. I want to be fair in my review so I gave them 2 stars.
While I appreciated the service I was not a big fan of the food. We ordered Tom Kha soup, Garlic Chicken and Panang Curry with a side of white rice.
The garlic chicken was great, however the rice was overcooked and lacking the appropriate flavor I would expect from jasmine rice. The flavors in the soup were over powered by the flavor of fish sauce it was way to salty. I expect more sweetness from the lemon grass and ginger. The curry was terrible. I want my curry to be bold and powerful. With a full array of flavors. When I put my curry over my rice I lost all flavor of the curry. I had to drown my rice in curry sauce so where it was more like a soup just to taste it.
I wish the food was more to our liking seeing as this is the only Thai Restaurant in Covington. We will not be patronizing this establishment again.
food was terrible. I love thai food but this was by far the worst tasting food and slowest service ever. i will NOT go back!
HORRIBLE SEVICE but great food. I use to frequent this restaurant as the food is always GREAT and the wine cellar SUPERB. However, every time I have visited this restaurant I have been ignored, even if I was the only person in the restaurant. Noone waits on you, you have to approach the desk where the waitresses are constantly visiting to place your order and to pay for your dinner. This HORRIBLE SERVICE seems to be focused on female patrons. When a man comes in they jump to attention and immediatelly wait on him. Although I love the food; I will never be back.
Inconsistency w/dining in vs. take out. I usually go to eat here with friends but decided to take home their basil chicken today. Are you kidding me? Flavorless, watery, and and just terrible. I would have given it 1*, but my past experience was always good. At least I got more brown rice than usual so now I can eat it with scrambled eggs in the morning.
Fantastic Thai food!. We have been searching for a really good place to eat near Maple Valley, Covington area and we have finally found it at Benjarong Thai Cuisine! They truly serve some of the best Thai food we have ever had in the Seattle area. We love the Fresh Rolls with Peanut Sauce and the Curries are all good; actually we haven't found anything here we don't like. The prices are reasonable too.
Great Thai food, and its even in Covington!. Great Thai food ! Great food and customer service. The Garlic / Basil chicken is awesome. Sorry for a short review, but now I'm hungry!! :)
Fantastic Thai on the South Side.
First time review here on CitySearch. I read the reviews here and I HAD to post after we ate.
I LOVE Thai Food. I have eaten at MANY places in the Seattle area including Thai Ginger (one of my absolutely favorites). The individual who posted giving this restaurant a negative review must have either eaten on an off night or not truly eaten there at all.
The service was great, the ambiance is terrific, and the food was outstanding. The colors are nice and warm and the decorations are minimal and tasteful and add to the restaurant's charm. The chefs clearly have a passion for the food and the menu options were outstanding.
We ordered three dishes - Mussamun curry with beef, Phad See Iew with pork (my measure of a good Thai place), and their standard Thai Fried Rice with chicken. Paired with dinner we had Asian Pear wine which was very fruity, not overly sweet with a hint of dryness and paired very well with everything except the curry. Each dish was prepared excellently and the mussamun curry was absolutely one of the best I've tasted.
If you're in Kent or Covington and need a great Thai place, definitely check them out. They might be busy on Friday or Saturday night, but even still we only waited a couple minutes.
One of the top Thai restaurants in the greater Seattle area!!!. I don't think that the person writing the bad review has ever eaten at this restaurant because I am Thai and the food was absolutely fantastic!!! I felt like I was back home again since I came to Seattle. There are so many Thai places to choose from in this city and Benjarong is among the top 5 I have visited since I moved here. The ingredients are fresh and wholesome. I had the asparagus shrimp and it was incredibly healthy, not greasy at all, and the shrimp and asparagus tasted like they had been harvested that morning!!! DELICIOUS!!! The food was hardly greasy and my family and I ate every morsel put in front of us. I highly recommend this restaurant for those looking for a fantastic meal that was VERY reasonably priced with a great ambience.
Not even close to great Thai food!. Talk about overpriced, crappy Thai food! The decor is pretty and the atmosphere is nice, but that must be what you are paying for because it's certainly not at all what I consider great Thai food at all. The food was greasy and bland particularly the Phad Thai. Trust me you are better off sticking to Seattle when it comes to Thai. My money is far better spent at Racha, Thai Ginger, or Tup Tim Thai where I get what I pay for!
Best Thai Food I've Had!. This resturant is located right next to the new Kohl's in Covington. It's great for lunch after a long day of shopping. The decor is elegant, down to the very last detail. I'm vegetarian, and I was happy to see there is a special vegetarian section of the menu. There are plenty of options for everyone - tofu, chicken, beef and seafood. The tofu pad thai is excellent, the best I've had! This resturant is the best kept secret in the Kent/Covington area! It's better than Simply Thai at Southcenter. I will be going back very soon!
