China Star ROCKS !.
My Fiance and I have been going to China Star... or ordering over the phone... for the past almost 6 years now. Their food is awesome. We went there for my Birthday and when I told Ann (the lady who is always there when we are there... she's really nice) that it was my Birthday... she offered to buy me a drink. I didn't want any alcohol... so my soda was free... with free refills. She even let me take pictures inside the restaurant.
The staff at China Star is always very nice and very welcoming. They remember their customers too. We are regulars at that restaurant because we just absolutely LOVE the food there. The food is just the right temperature and I always have my spiciness altered to no spicy since I can't eat spicy foods. They always make my food perfectly to my specifications. And I LOVE their Egg Flower Soup and their fried Crab Cheese Wantons. MMMM !
We HIGHLY recommend this place to everyone. If you live in Western Washington State and even if you live out of state and are ever in this area... give China Star a try. I guarantee you will Love it !!
Best Chinese Food We've Ever Had !. My fiance and I have been to China Star more than once. For the last few years we've ordered out (over the phone) and had our food delivered to us. We usually get General Tso's Chicken with Fried Rice. I usually get my meat spiciness altered so that it is not spicy as I am not able to eat spicy foods. The Fried Rice is always very moist and flavorful... unlike other chinese places we've gone to. And there are a lot of little extras that come with our meal that we don't get charged extra for. Like... Egg Rolls, Fried Prawns, Egg Flower Soup, and 2 or 3 pieces of BBQ Pork. The food is always at a perfect temperature and is really filling. I always have leftovers for the next day because after eating all the soup, prawns, and egg roll (I give my pork to my fiance cuz I don't eat a lot of pork)... I am usually too full to eat the rest of my meal. We usually have an appetizer with our meal so I usually get Crab Cheese Wantons. It's a really good meal. The minimum requirement for delivery, we think, is reasonable too... only $25 minimum and there is no delivery charge. We moved out of their delivery range back in October 2010... and we called to order tonight. They said that they usually would charge a $2 delivery charge because we are out of their delivery range... but because they were slow tonight, at the restaurant... the guy who took our order said that he'd make an exception and deliver to us anyway with no delivery charge. I have to give this place a 5 Star rating cuz they really deserve a 5 Star rating. Excellent Food and Excellent job, everyone. Food is AWESOME !!
Dinner for four = same size as dinner for two - delivery.
The best Egg Foo Young I ever tasted was from China Star.
Ordered a delivery dinner special 'C' today and it arrived the same size as a previous dinner special 'B' I ordered not too long ago.
Lesson learned = China Star rating went from five star to one star in 45 minutes flat.
Better off eating our of the toilet. We waited ten minutes to get a seat when they were dead on a Sunday night. The guy at the counter was on a social call for ten minutes and didn't even acknowledge us. An older lady finally realized we have not been seated and sat us. her English was so bad she repeated everything twice and didn't understand a thing we asked her. Of course the order was wrong but why tell her when she didn't understand to begin with? The food was steamed and not stirfried because the wok was not hot enough when stirfrying. $40.00 for toilet food and horrible service. The lady waited 15 minutes to give us the check when we were obviously done eating. (Plates were stacked and pushed to the edge of the tabloe as a hint)
Mu Shu Pork with TORTILLA????.
I ordered "Mu Shu Pork with 4 pancakes" and got some oversalted cabbage and pork chunks with 4 out-of -package flour tortillas!! You would think that a Chinese restaurant would know the difference between Chinese pancakes and Mexican torillas!
Staff was very nice but the food was worse than the stuff that sits in warming trays for 6 hours in shopping center food courts... and, even with a coupon, it was not good value for the money.
Best Chinese Food!.
This is the first time I've ever written A review, and I am doing it cause this place deserves it!!! I haven't had good Chinese food in a long time. Those Chinese food buffets that seem to be popping up everywhere are horrid! But I was really impressed with the food here. Like one reviewer said when you order an entree it comes with many little tid bits that they don't charge you extra for, like eggroll, couple fried shrimp pieces, soup and pork. The food comes out hot and freshly made, not like it's been sitting in a warming tube like you get at other restaurants. Might I suggest the honey sesame seed chicken, it's my favorite, my husband is a vegetarian and he loves their General Tso Tofu.
The out side of the restaurant can be a turn off just because it's on a strip mall but that's not the owners fault. Don't judge a book by it's cover. Once you walk it you forget that your in a little strip mall thanks to the view! The far side of the restaurant wall is nothing but glass windows giving you a perfect few of this long stretch of green grass from the golf course, spotted with a few pine tree. China Star is not a big restaurant, it's small, quiet, never crowded and peaceful. You don't have to strain to hear your boyfriend or girlfriend talk. That is a big plus to me.
I also love the sense of community, if you go into the bar you will see one wall has tons of pictures, pictures of the owners family, friends and regular customers celebrating events in the restaurant. This isn't just a business to them, their regular customers have become more then just customers.
It's really hard to find good food, good service and a peaceful atmosphere all at the same place.
And this review comes from someone that has been there more then once.
Best Chinese Food for Families!. I love China Star!! I first went after seeing a newspaper article in 2007 of them winning the City Search award. They were NOT lying! You get the most for your money here. A typical entree comes with soup, egg roll, rice, fried shrimp and bbq pork. And that's easily under $15! You also get unlimited free hot tea and everyone gets the fortune cookie. The atmosphere is beautiful, especially on a summer evening. You can sit by the windows and watch the golfers head in or sit in a spacious booth with a colorful glass pendant lamp hanging over. It's very quiet inside, I hardly ever hear other conversations. Some of the wait staff doesn't speak tremendous good english but they are all very friendly and always have a smile on their face. I go here at least once a week!
THE BEST Chinese food. My husband and I were looking for a place to break our children in, for Chinese food, as we were going to go to China and wanted the kids to get used to different food. My husband found China Star on the top 10 list for Chinese food. It is very difficult to find GOOD Chinese, and the reviews we read were all great! We went and were THRILLED with our order. We are vegetarian, and they accomodated us very nicely. The ladies that work there are amazing and sweet. We went back several times before our trip. When we returned, we had added a new member to our family. We had adopted a baby from China, and wanted to show her off to the ladies, as they knew were were going. They loved our baby, and spoke to her in Chinese and again, GREAT food! We have taken family, and friends to this restaurant and have made lovers out of all of them. I HIGHLY recommend their egg fu young (vegetable). I am not an egg fan, but just devour theirs. I think this place is awesome! My kids (who are very picky eaters) love it too. Thank You China Star! You are our favorite place to eat!
Awesome Food... And Awesome Service. This is my first time using City Search. My fiance and I moved to Washington State in 2006 and we had a lot of trouble finding a good chinese restaurant. While in Kent, one day, we happened to be on Meeker Street and saw a sign for this little chinese bistro called China Star. So we decided to check it out. Were we ever impressed. The food tastes great. The tempora breading they use on their entrees is awesome. I always like my chinese food to be crispy so I am always completely satisfied when we go there. The temperature of the food is excellent. The atmosphere is quiet and romantic and not too bright and not too dark. Last time we went to China Star... I decided I didn't want soda or tea... or any alcoholic beverages to drink so I ordered Chocolate milk instead. They didn't really have chocolate milk... per say... but they improvised and brought me chocolate milk made with Nesquick chocolate powder (which is what I prefer anyway). I was impressed at how the staff does all they can to meet, and exceed, their customers' needs. And they have a bar there if you would like a cocktail while you dine. We don't get made to sit at the bar either... we can have our cocktails served at our table. The booths, as well as the chair seats, are really comfortable as they are cushioned for extra comfort. The price we pay for our meals is always reasonable. and, since restroom cleanliness is always a big concern for any customer, no matter where we are, I gotta tell you... the restrooms at China Star are always very clean and well kept. We were there for the Chinese New Year and we each got the little red tickets. I got one that gave me a 20% discount off of a purchase of $20 or more. My fiance got a ticket for free egg rolls. Since we didn't get to use them before the expiration dates... the ladies there told us they would still honor them if we brought them in after the expiration date. WOW... now THAT'S GREAT SERVICE. This is why we give them 5 stars. Great Job !!
Avoid this restauant at all cost...Kmart serves better chinese food. My wife and I were in the mood for Chinese food the other night, saw the review and decided to go, were surprised at this hole in the wall in s strip mall in Kent...we should of gone the other way when we saw the large sign out front was only half lite and the place had a lounge. We both got sick that night, and we are still feeling the effects a week later. The food that was very poorly prepared and obviously tainted. Save your money and do not go to this restaurant.
