What People Are Saying About Poco Wine Room

In Short – A small space with a soaring ceiling and generous windows, this friendly hangout combines a special coziness with striking notes of artistry. Upstairs features low, comfortable couches while downstairs is built around a curved wood bar. The wines are limited to boutique northwest selections, and change every few months--trust the staff for great recommendations. The generous canapé plate makes a tasty meal for one; follow up with a not-too-sweet cheesecake or warm chocolate cake.

Fantastic food, indifferent service

This would have been rated higher as the food merits 6 starts, but the service only gets one. We went to Poco for dinner last night after a film. Arriving around 9, downstairs was full so we went upstairs where there was plenty of seating but no server. This set the tone for the evening. A server finally came up and brought water, gave us menus and offered us drinks. We ordered a bottle of wine which he brought then disappeared downstairs again. Eventually we had to go downstairs to find him to say we wanted to order food. He came back and took our order and the food came relatively quickly. The food was outstanding - the best duck we have had in ages, and a terrific appetizer of Brussels sprouts, apple and bacon. Our second entree, the chicken, was also great. We would go back in a second for the food but the service really needs to be improved to get us back in on a regular basis.
Seattle needs more wine bars

This is most certainly for those who enjoy wine bars. A very nice selection of reds, whites and sparkings and some wonderful tapas and appetizers. My sister and I stopped by on a Friday evening. The space is deceiving...very small when you first walk in, but there is an upstairs area that I would recommend. It is a cozy feel and we found ourselves engaging in friendly, and intriguing conversation with people all around us. The service was impeccable considering she had so many other people to attend to. She was very good at being personable while attending to other customers in a timely fashion. I enjoyed my experience, but I also really love wine. I also enjoy pubs but if you only like pubs, this would not be the place for you. Personally, I will be back.
Good times and funny people

It's very nice to go out in your neighborhood and go to a place where people are unpretentious, fun, inviting, and hilarious. Both the staff and patrons have loads or personality and the wine list features great selections that I wouldn't have otherwise tried. Plus, the chesse plates are huge, diverse, and tasty. I've been to Poco a handful of times and am planning on becoming a regular.
Best Kept Secret

Welcome to Poco. That's the first thing that I heard when I entered my new favorite place to chill out. What a sweet happy hour. I enjoyed a glass of South African Warwick Pinotage after many tastes of their offerings, a tasty french ham and camembert sandwich, and had a great conversation with their sassy tattooed bartender. I asked her if she was the owner and she humbly and simply stated "No, I'm the Kate. We have a Shirley, and a Kevin, too. We all contribute so greatly to Poco that it is who we are." The staff at Poco are like chamelions weaving in and out of conversations like dancers of the Tango. If ever in the neighborhood or are feeling like a glass of wine without pretention Poco is for you.
- Pros: Great Wine. Tasty food. Sassy Kate.
- Cons: Sitting by the door is a chilly spot. I wish that there were a bar upstairs.
