Excellent place to train!~ no pretense
by jooz at Citysearch
I train here and love the ability to work out not under a microscope. It's a great location near downtown (my office) and capitol hill (my domecile), it's perfect, and I've always loved the people that work there - the trainers are talented and amazingly helpful
- Pros: Get your workout done, not a scene
- Cons: none
Innovative, fun, and challenging.

This place is amazing! I am a client of Essential Fitness and love their unique and innovative style of training. I never get bored and am amazed at all the cool new exercises they come up with all of the time. Some examples include flipping giant tires and running the Capital Hill stairs. I almost never perform the same excerise twice and have never had so much fun working out! The trainers here are great motivators. They compete in various activities throughout Seattle alongside their clients, including me. Everything from triatholons, marathons, and hiking mountains. They practice what they preach!

I have worked out my whole life and Essential Fitness is without a doubt the best facility that I've ever utilized. It is incredible to work out with state of the art equipment and be trained by the most innovative, motivating trainers in the business!! There is no such thing as a "slump" when you work with these trainers. Each session is different, catered to your changing needs, and challenging! I cannot say enough about Essential Fitness. I would recommend it to anyone who is serious about meeting their goals and who wants trainers who really take the time to care about you.
Incredible professionalism, intensity & personality

I started training with the Essential Fitness trainers in 2004. The facility is fantastic - it's spacious and there are never more than 3 other people being trained at any one time. You aren't assigned a trainer, instead you will rotate amongst each of the five trainers so that you get more variety in workouts but you also get the benefit of having each trainer get to know you well so it doesn't feel like you're being trained by a stranger. Each one of the trainers are fun, professional, and really, really good at their jobs.
- Pros: Energy, professionalism, skilled trainers
ultra convenient Eastlake location, great trainers, highly motivating atmosphere

If you're tired of the skeevy scene at most large gyms complete with high pressure sales, then Essential Fitness is the place for you. Here you won't find any of that strong-arming (pun intended) but you will find highly motivated, talented, very personable and genuine trainers eager to help you with your fitness goals. Whether you're a seasoned marathon runner looking for that extra edge or someone new to the fitness world wanting to lose that spare tire (like myself) you will definitely find what you're looking for at this neighborhood gym. Stop in and meet the trainers and check it out for yourself!
