A ton of beers on tap, peanuts on the floor, and pizza by the slice. This is no neighborhood bar, but it certainly feels like it. Located across the street from Safeco, this place is jammed packed during M's games. The service here usually only hits a homerun when there's no action taking place on the field.
Great Bar - $10 Johnny Walker Greens! Can't Beat That!.
Happened to look out the window one time when driving by this place and made a mental note to come back. I'm glad I did. I needed to fill some time before a Marines Game (sorry, I'm a Red Sox fan) and made my way about two blocks South of the park and found Hooverville directly across from the new Showbox Sodo.
A relaxed atomosphere, free peanuts, pinball, video games, huge bar. Struck up a conversation with a few locals next to me, which never happens here, a sign of a good bar, a place where you can have a conversation with a stranger. The clincher for me was when I noticed some high end scotch behind the bar and asked what the price was for a the Johnny Walker Green (hadn't seen that one before, I think they also had Gold and Black) and was expecting to hear something in the $20 - $30 range. The bartender said they went for $10! I mentioned how that was quite reasonable and his reply was "Good Scotch should be shared." How can you not love a place with a philosophy like that?
Make a trip here before or after your next Mariners game, you will not be disappointed.
My new favorite bar. Love this place. Reminds me of bars in Georgetown -- similar charm and high ceilings, and who can beat free peanuts??? Plus they have pinball, and everyone that works there is super nice.
