NEVER let someone tell you that the difference between a good haircut and a bad one is 2 weeks. This picture was taken 2 days after Abbe cut my hair at Ooh-La's. I have now lived with it for 3 WEEKS 3 DAYS and 3 HOURS. It is the worst, most unflattering, most unmanageable haircut I have ever received. If allowed, I will post an update shortly. Mgmt has been very kind to refund what I paid to be scalped. They tried to help me style what I have left. Kind as they are, this has been nothing less than traumatic. I have felt like wearing a bag over my head for almost a month while major things that were meant to be celebrated are going on in my life. My hair has never grown so slow.
Rebecca is Amazing!. I first started seeing Rebecca more than five years ago when she was at Gary Manuel in Belltown. I have very long, very thick, and tricky-with-layers hair and was seldom pleased with the haircuts I received (regardless of whether the salon was upscale or not). From the day I had my first haircut with Rebecca (at the recommendation of a coworker), I finally realized the complete and total value of a truly amazing hair stylist. I recognize that there is some subjectivity when it comes to hairstyles and stylists, but she really is phenomenal. I saw her religiously for three years and then she was gone! She moved out of the country and I was devastated. I also know that salons adhere to a strict no-compete policy so that stylists can't take their clientele with them. For two years I went from one unsatisfied haircut to another... And then one day I looked up Oohla's and saw that Rebecca had moved back to the states!! It seemed like a crazy stroke of luck. I've since had three haircuts with her and they are even more terrific than before. She is a kind, caring, and sweet person - but even beyond that, extremely talented. In regards to the salon itself, Oohla's has a cute, boutique-y atmosphere. It doesn't feel pretentious but still offers small, well-appreciated amenities. The haircuts are reasonable starting at $50. I actually went in for a haircut this afternoon with Rebecca and it's probably my favorite one out of all of the (outstanding) ones I've received from her. My boyfriend has been complimenting me all night. My hair looks amazing and I feel amazing. If you're looking for a terrific stylist -- one that listens to you and pays attention to your hair's unique quality and texture - definitely go see Rebecca!
Great place. Becky did a great job at Oohla's. But, she is now working elsewhere. So, I encourage you to not go to Oohla's since Becky no longer works there.
Great haircuts, even with difficult to style hair!. I've gone through long strings of bad hairstylists who never did anything with my bushy, thick hair. On the advice of a friend I tried OohLa's and had Julia cut my hair. For the first time in years, I actually liked my haircut! When Julia retired, I started seeing Belle for my haircuts and I get compliments all the time (even when the cut has grown out and I need a trim!) Everyone is really friendly and the atmosphere is great, and there is good bus coverage (and shopping) for those of us who need it.
Best Salon this side of the Mississip. Seriously, I love this salon. I've been going to Belle for six months (that's three haircuts and two colorings) and my hair has never been this healthy or looked this great. I have very fine, thin hair. Her cuts and color have made my hair more volumnous than countless bleach-jobs or products. I've been styling hair for years, but she provided me with two great tips that really improved the quality of my hair. I don't know what else to say--other than I highly recommend it.
Editorial Review. Hair-care salon specializing in color has stylists who do cuts, highlights, hair removal, perms and more.
User review by cwiltfong. Great staff! I wanted a big style change and Michelle helped me decide what would work with my hair type. I was very confident with my stylist who wasn't afriad to take (what I thought was) risks. I've never had so many compliments on my hair, even after a week of doing it myself.
What happened to Oohla's in Fremont?. What once use to be "the place" to get your hair cut, somehow has become a shell of what it once was. There are still some quality stylists, the diamonds in the rough. It just doesn't flow the way it use to because all the energy has been drained out.
Stacia.
Stacia is incredible.
She's really good at helping you choose the right color (or colors, plural, in my case) for your hair and interpreting what you think you want! Additionally, she cuts my hair so well!
I get a lot of comments from people about my hair. They always ask where I get it done and I tell them about Stacia and Ooh-La's.
