Lots of Left-Coast Labels at Hip Boutique. Don’t let minimalist décor of this Madrona boutique deter you; über-personable shop owner Lisa Clinton subscribes to a less-is-more philosophy and stocks a carefully selected mix of homewares, Dominique Picquier bags, and left coast-based labels including, Undesigned, 88 Orange and hand-loomed knits from Portland designer, Souchi. Shoppers can expect some kitty love – Juniper fosters a cat from the Seattle Animal Shelter. Recent find: Perfect for cozying up on cold Seattle winter nights, the “faux fur” Loyale organic cotton throw ($98) makes the green grade for eco-minded people. Plus, 5% of consumer sales go to the Darfur Stoves Project, and 1% to Green Corps.

Classy Space, Friendly Face, Sweet Cat. I love a beautiful space. Juniper is simply decorated with dyed concrete floor, white walls, and a line drawing of a flower on the wall above the sales desk. Owner Lisa fosters cats waiting to be 'adopted'- the cat on hand while I visited was Henry. He came right over to say hello as if we were old friends. There are a few racks of very well chosen clothes, both classic and en vogue, and a giant mirror to twirl in front of. A bench for your best girlfriend to give opinions from is perfectly situated. Lisa herself is a beautiful woman, but with her easy laugh she didn't make me envious of her lovely frame, she just made me want to be friends with her. Well, maybe I'm a little envious. This easy space with beautiful clothes and accesories makes shopping a relaxing experience.
