Great teachers...

This studio has great teachers and a good vibe, and they don't crank the heat TOO high. I'm still curious why yoga is so pricey though? I will return to this studio for sure!
Best yoga studio, hands down.

As a dedicated yoga practitioner at Shakti, I have to say that is is a great studio. It has the best instructors - I have not yet found one I didn't like - a great space, and a vigorous practice that works wonders for both your body and mind. My friend convinced me to take the intro series with her a few years ago and I haven't stopped going since. Shakti has a class for all levels of practitioners and the instructors teach modifications so even if you don't feel ready to take a higher level class after going through the intro series, you'll can because you will know how to modify the poses to fit your own practice! I can't say enough great things about Shakti - everyone there is warm, friendly and helpful - please disregard the negative post as it is not at all representative of Shakti Vinyasa yoga - maybe the person was confused about where they were? At one point my schedule allowed me to go to Shakti about 5 times a week and I have never had a bad experience - just the opposite!!!
- Pros: Wonderful staff, beautiful studio, great style, covered ample parking!
- Cons: N/A
A complete experience

I am writing this review partially in response to reviewer who gave Shakti one star.
I have been going to Shakti for just about 2 years now and have been consistently pleased with the attention, support and instruction offered by the teachers at this studio. On the one occasion that I came across a teacher I didn't like, I made a point of avoiding her class.
Speaking to the level 1 intro classes, there is only one series at a time and that can be frustrating if it doesn't line up with what your schedule currently looks like. But as someone who took the intro classes and still returns to them periodically, they are extremely helpful and worth the effort to realign your schedule two days a week for a month. I also believe the cost for the 8 class series is reasonable at $88.
It is true, as a mom of three and a person with a job, that I can't always make the class schedule meet mine. But to date, it has been the case that my requests and suggestions regarding scheduling have been listened to with a conversation concerning options following suit. Never once have I felt pressured to do something or did anyone ever attempt to "up sell" me on anything.
I primarily practice at the Ballard studio, which I find spacious and comfortable. The changing room is on the smaller side, but I think you need to ask yourself what you are there for. There is a shower and bathrooms should I need it, and a place to put my belongings. I have never felt that my possessions were in jeopardy as there is always someone at the front or the front door is locked during class.
I am extremely grateful for this studio, the variety of instructors and the practice they enable me to pursue. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a vigorous yoga practice.
- Pros: welcoming, friendly and informed instructors, excellent practice
- Cons: peek hour weekend classes can be very full
