What Our Expert Scouts Say

Art of The Table

Every table feels like the chef's table in this casual and intimate room. Order one of everything from the open kitchen, you'll be glad you did since Dustin and his team hit it out of the park every time.

Chef Dustin's menu features what came into the restaurant that day. Fresh, innovative and tasty, the chef's 9 course menu is the route to take. Go big or go home, try an eternally rotating house cocktail and do not skip dessert.

Local food at its least precious and most delicious. If you can swing it, go for the Friday or Saturday full chef's tasting menu. This place is a tiny delight.

AoTT is a gem tucked away and best kept that way. Everything Chef Dustin creates is sourced locally, ever-changing & ALWAYS made with love.

A more casual "Herbfarm" experience!. I would highly recommend this experience for anyone with a passion for food, especially locally sourced, fresh ingredients. The prix-fixe weekend supper club menu is a steal and the optional wine pairings were pitch perfect. The roasted pepper and tomato soup with pernod cream was exquisite. The braised short ribs in red wine sauce just melted in my mouth. And for dessert, the autumn fruit crisp with cinnamon-cayenne ice cream left me wishing I had more room left so I could ask for more! The atmosphere is fun and the focus is definitely on food. A wonderful choice for a celebration with a group!

So Very Ordinary. I hoped that the Art of the Table would be the answer to my dreams of a small, neighborhood restaurant where I could drop in for some light, delicious food and a good glass of wine. The wine is certainly available, but the food never rose above the ordinary.

I dined with a rather large party on a Monday night, and I have to say the service was excellent and the staff was affable and engaging. But I came for the food, and it disappointed. The croustini was topped with a bland, wilted greens and garlic over goat cheese. We ordered the curried vegetables only once due to their lack of any real flavor or innovation. The pork en brochette was dry and overcooked, lacked seasoning, and rested on a drab ratatouille. Everything served needed to be taken up a notch.

There are so many other restaurants that do small plates well that I don't believe I'll return to the Art of the Table anytime soon.

local food, multiple courses, great atmosphere. Chef Dustin and front of the house artist Laurie have created a beautiful comfortable restaurant that focuses around fresh ingredients, creative menus, and travel photography. The supper club is built around 4 courses that change each week (along with the great pictures on the walls). Dustin presents the courses and describes the ideas behind them. Sit at a communal table to have some fun, or be romantic at a cozy table for two. I have been there for 4 supper clubs, and a few Monday night happy hours and never been disappointed.

Unpretentious, excellent spot. Art of the Table is a revelation--exquisitely prepared food served in an intimate, tasteful setting but without the anxiety of traditional fine dining (which fork? do I look all right? am I old enough to be eating here?). Their weekend supperclubs are like a great vacation--you forget everything except the experience you're having, and when it's over you have a bunch of stories to tell your food-loving friends. Don't let the need for reservations dissuade you, this place is anything but stuffy. Try calling the day of--since they are new, you can probably still get a seat. There are two tables that seat two, a four top, and a larger table for groups, so you won't need to share a table if you prefer not to. Happy Mondays feature happy hour wine and beer and $6 small plates, and Thursday nights currently feature a varied menu $6-$12. I've been twice and had a memorable experience worth sharing. You can join their mailing list and get menu updates at their home page.

Editorial Review. Wallingford supper club serves family-style meals on weekends with a rotating theme; reservations are necessary.
