Kent >Vca Moffat-Minnick Animal Hosp
UGH!! Worst animal care from VCA in Kent!!!!!!. I have gone to this pet serivce for years and it took me awhile to understand how horrible this vet clinic really was. it took forever to get an appointment and I lost two pest because of their carelessness. We took my dog there when she was sick and they would not do anythig but take her temperature and a urine sample. Then the said that they would hurry to get the results but they took over two weeks because they had forgotten to send it in to the lab. My dog died shortly after. My cat had the same thing happen to her. She died four days before christmas. I had had her since i was a baby and she was the most amazing part of my world. She died and i still to this day blame them. We called to make an appontment and said it was urgent and they didnt give her one until the next week. By then she was refusing to eat and getting much worse. I showed up with her, crying like crazy, and they promptly took her away from me and said to come back at the end of the day the next day and i could pick her back up. The only thing they did for her was drain a little fluid from her lungs but did nothing to give her nutrients or medicine. They charged an obscene price for the medicine for her and nothing else. NOt even to help comfort me. It was a horrible expirence. WHen we came back to put her down in the same week, they were so cold and mean that i never wanted to go back again. HOwever, my mom told me to give them a second chance so when i got a kitten for my birthday from my boyfriend, i called to make an appointment for a check up and then asked about the coupon that the pound had given me for her first check up. They said that because i had brought previous pets there before they would not honor it!!!!!!! This was the last straw. If you love your pets and want them to live, never bring them here!!!! NEVER!!!!!! it will be the worst mistake in your life. Luckily, i still have my kitten, no thenks to them.
Unless you like up-sell, not a good place to take your pets.
When we first started taking our dogs and our cat there, Dr. Redman saw them - she's great. Then she started working only with small animals, and our dissatisfaction began.
We began to get pressure from the staff to have our pets undergo unnecessary testing, take preventative medication, and all manner of other "up-sell" that I frankly find dispicable. I say that the "up-sell" was recommended was unnecessary in clear conscience as we have a friend who is a veterinarian who sadly lives out of the area or we'd have him seeing the dogs, and after having had him look the animals over and review what we'd been pressured to do, he assured us that their recommendations were in no way necessary. This continued for more than a year, much to our frustration, including them mailing us magazines and fliers advocating all manner of testing and procedures just as a matter of course.
One of our dogs hates it there - he's shy, and they are not understanding about his personality and don't seem to undersand that they might need to earn his trust if he doesn't know them. For some reason, They seem to think that because they are vets, he should be fine with whatever they want to do to him. He is not convinced. They won't spend 2-3 minutes with him to build trust, the result of which is he hasn't had his temperature taken in probably 2 years.
The last straw for me was after having to euthanize our cat (she had cancer), without asking whether we wanted it done or whether we wanted it sent to us, they mailed us a pawprint of her paw with her toes all spread out and her name stamped into the clay circle. Opening the envelope to find something so unexpected was horrible; I knew she had cancer and that we were going to lose her in the end but it did not make losing my cat of 12+ years any easier , & broke my heart. Finding out that they'd taken the print after she'd died made me all the more sad, and I cannot bear to look at it.
Hope to find a decent vet soon.
Great Veterinary Hospital!.
We brought our cat Snowball in for an emergency exam when Covington Veterinary Hospital, our usual vet, couldn't get him in. As soon as I told the receptionist what his symptoms were, she checked with the doctor and told me to bring him right in, even though they had never seen him before! It was a good thing, too. Snowball had crystals in his urine that had blocked his urinary tract. If I had waited until the next day he would have died! As it was, he was one sick little kitty! The minute I walked in the door the technician came out to evaluate Snowball, then brought him in back right away when she saw that he was in bad shape. I talked to Dr. Redman and Dr. Olson that day, and they were both amazing. So caring and compassionate. I can't say enough about not only the quality of the care Snowball got, but how compassionate and professional all the staff were. They're a little more expensive than some of the cut-rate hospitals in Kent, but more than worth it, in my opinion.
I've since had all my pets transferred over, and I'm very happy with the care they've received. Dr. Redman even found a cracked tooth on my dog that had been causing him pain for quite awhile that my regular vet had missed. Turns out his poor appetite was because it hurt to chew!
I'm recommending these guys (they're called VCA Kent Animal Hospital now, I guess) to all my pet owning friends!
