What People Are Saying About Facing East Taiwanese Rstrnt

Featured Review

Located in the corner of a strip-mall off Bellevue Way, Facing East can be a little bit hard to find, but once you've made it inside, you'll be glad you did. The recently remodeled restaurant is spacious and nicely decorated. The customers tend to be a mix between Chinese families in search of authentic tastes of street food from Taiwan and Americans looking for an opportunity to try treats from abroad, expertly prepared. The menu can be intimidating, as there are only a few Chinese-American classics peppering it, while the majority of options are Taiwanese dishes rarely seen in these parts.…

Editor's Tips

Parking:
The lot for the strip-mall is small, but if you go around the back, there is free two-hour parking on the street.
Where to Sit:
Sit along the first wall to get a glimpse of all the great dishes coming out of the open kitchen.
On the Menu:
Many people come for the savory dishes, but those in the know stay for the shaved ice for dessert.

Authentic and Tastey

by JessicaK0 at Citysearch

Lets be honest, its not easy to get authentic Taiwanese food...that is good mind you, around the Northwest. The price, however, reflects the demand but other than that it's got a great atmosphere to go along with great overall food.

Great place for Taiwanese 'street' food

by howthis at Citysearch

You don't find my place that specialize in Taiwanese food. I've heard that sourcing the spices and seasoning are an often an issue.

This little place has a great menu for the unique flavors of Taiwan - think simple but robust flavors, hearty in style. You must try the Pork Burger and Stewed Pork over rice. Consider their Shaved Ice dessert as it's quite unique.

  • Pros: small dishes that can be shared with friends
  • Cons: the long wait for a table

Best Gourmet Chinese Food, quality material, warm service and clean environment - Highly recommended

by EagleBald2000 at Citysearch

Our family has been going there since they first opened. Always impressed with the quality ingredients they invest into the food and the environment is clean and neat. Owners have put a lot of heart and soul into ensuring great taste with quality and healthy materials. We have recommended many friends and families and no one has been disappointed so far.

  • Pros: Healthy and quality ingredient, unique taste, food variety, warm service and cleanliness
  • Cons: very popular place in town, so crowded all the time

don't come here

by samchen11 at Citysearch

Terrible service, the manager let several teenagers cut in front of the line when several parties have been waiting nearly an hour. One of the worst dining experiences I've ever had, the people who run it are obviously discriminating. The food is OK at best, you could get the same at many other locations - definitely not food you would wait an hour for let alone 10 minutes.

  • Pros: cheap
  • Cons: everything

Waiters hunt you down for tips! A typical example of a dishonest business !

by Kalashnikov90922 at Citysearch

It all started well until I was ready to order my food. The moment I ordered my food, everything begins to go wrong. When I began to order my food, I was pressured by the waiter to order the most expensive and biggest dishes on the menu. And when I refused to be hustled into a money binge, the waiters attitude quickly became hostile. The waiters kept coming by the table and commenting that my food is not enough, thereby creating a pressured enviornment. After finishing my meal, the waiter angrily chucked me the bill and ignore my demand for water. When I went to the counter to pay my bill, the waiter told me that I needed a $20.00 minimum in order to use my card. That surprised me because an individual rarely spend above 20 dollars just to have a quick lunch. Later I realized that they have $20 minimum in order to pressure the customer while dodging taxes. Seeing this type of service, I refused to give tips. Shockingly, the waiter literally chased me to my car and demanded tips. Like robbers, these waiters stalks and threatens you for tips, even outside the resturant. If you don't want to be pressured and humiliated like an unpaying customer, do not go to this resturant. The actions that the waiters commited is unprecedentedly shocking and forceful! After eating at this resturant, you will feel like you have just been robbed at knifepoint by money-hungry thieves, at least that was what I felt!

  • Pros: Some foods are ok.
  • Cons: Everything else!
