A great place (to avoid). After a great experience last time, I made another appointment with Libby, who's fantastic, friendly and really knew what to do with my hair.

When I walked in, I was informed that Libby 'no longer worked there' and that they didn't want to honor my appointment, even though the shop was completely empty (no surprise there). The snotty girl at the counter said she called and left a message for me, which is a complete lie, since I have my phone with me all the time.

Forget about professionalism, this is flat-out insulting - I can't believe this place is still in business!

Cute salon with great atmosphere and stylists!. I always had trouble getting my hair colored the right shade of red but ever since I went to Haven and got it colored by Libby it has just as I wanted. Finally I dont have to worry about trying a new salon everytime as my hair is exactly like I want it. The other stylists here are warm and nice as well even if you are not their client.

They also have a cute garden where you can relax while your hair is processing. And this is right in the middle of Ballard!

Your Time Is More Valuable!. A visit to the stylist is an exciting treat. Don't be caught up in the illusion of grandeur on Haven's website. If I wanted the atmosphere of a walk-in salon I'd have went to one. Rather, I took my time looking up Seattle's top 10 salon list...my faith has since dissipated from that list!

I waited 15 min past my appt time, which I'd left work early for. Come to find out, my stylist whom happened to be the owner of the place, had been sitting getting her hair done. I was in shock as I watched Sasha "the owner/stylist" get up from having her hair casually talked over and styled. Then 15 min LATE stroll over and act as though I'd just walked in the door. I explained to her this was not ok. It was very disrespectful to ask a client to schedule an appt. to then have the appt disregarded as well as personally be disregarded. $80.00 is indeed a treat! A treat that I don't just hand to anyone, specially someone whom hadn't time to simply acknowledge the situation...

Hi, wow it's already 4? I'd hoped to be done before you got here. I'm so sorry. Would you mind waiting while I finish pulling myself together?

Would have gone a long way...at least sugar-coated the situation. I don't have it in me to give Haven a second chance.

Low key, no frills and lots of Style!. I've seen 3 stylists and they have all done a great job. With my recent experience being a "clean-up" job because I went to a local barber that hacked my hair, I have finally concluded that Haven is the place for me! Crystdian did a wonderful job with what he had left from a previous disaster doo and I am so grateful for it. THANK YOU!

Best place for great hair. I've been following Jimmy around now for 3+years. No one else can do my hair like he does. It's the best cut color and style I've ever had done. He is always keeping my look fresh.Try him out. You won't be sorry. He's the BEST!!!!

Best hair cut and color in town. Jim Owens can do anything you want done to your hair and make you look hot. He is fantastic at what he does. Cut,color,style,he does it all. I wouldn't go to anyone else.Jim ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

a great experience with james owen. i recently had the pleasure of an appointment with jim at haven salon in ballard. he was genuinely excited to take on my hair and ended up working with and adding to my style in a way that made me extremely happy. jim made the experience far more enjoyable than any other i had gone thru so far with some more up-market (aka. pricey) salons in the seattle area and i wouldnt hesitate directing anyone to his chair.

James Owen Rocks the Bangs. JIm has cut hair in 4 different salons in the years that I've known him, and I've followed him everywhere. He knows how I like my bangs trimmed - and I'm pretty picky. He listens to what I want and follows through, and I have no qualms telling him my opinions because I know he'll do something about it. I referred a friend today for a unique foil and color and cut, and my friend was extremely pleased. Highly recommend Jim!

Crysdian is a miracle worker!!. Since moving to Seattle, I have been on the search for a good stylist. I want it all: a stylish yet work appropriate haircut that doesn't take an hour to look fabulous, and with long hair, this is hard to do creatively. After a long and expensive search all over the city, Haven is where I will go back to. Crysdian performed a miracle on my lack luster 'do. He was really helpful with what he thought would look best, but also took into account my own likes and long term plans for my hair. I don't know what he did, and how he combined all what I told him but the result is great, and for the first time in my life, I have a haircut that I love even after I've left the salon for a while. One other cool thing about my experience was the space, the Salon is so cool!! There is a beautiful garden in the back of the Salon, I can't wait for Summer appointments. Lastly, they play great upbeat music. Great experience, I will be back.

Top of their Craft, will never use another!. I followed the owner, Chrysdian, from his central Ballard location. Not only are his skills exponetially better than those of my prior top stylists (Honolulu's everchanging "avante guarde" & Dallas' premiere talent with Toni & Guy's top brass!). I started here in Seattle at Gary Manuel, (good boot camp but you immediately adjust your hair in your car and know your work is cut out for you), Vain (the only true vanity once you leave are those of the colorists laughing as they reinvented a metallic orange on your locks meant only for a Britney Spears BACK-UP dancer wig) and the basic good training cut of the " I will never do corporate" rebels of Spex Salon, who I must admit had some decent yet unenthusiastic talent. At Haven, not only do you get the experienced talent you expect at a salon, but you recieve genuine and HONEST feedback no matter how hard the truth is going to hurt you! ( I wanted to go brunette, Mr. Chrysdian was quick to grab samples and show the error of my erratic thinking.. he explained it with a wry smile that only a fortune-teller could express- I stand corrected and happy!) There is no other! 5 out of five stars! Thanks Haven!
