Burien >Bistro Baffi Italian Fine Dining
Good food and services. Service is good and the staff is attentive. The drinks and the food are too good.
Outstanding Italian. Excellent Northern Italian cuisine. The seafood dishes are fresh and savory. The homemade pastas are creative and mouthwatering.Remarkable wine list with some excellent bottles priced very reasonably. Exemplary service and not rushed. Great value for the quality of food and service.
Great food but.......
October 29th we had arranged for a party of 20 to stop and eat at Bistro Baffi before a 7:30 concert. The food was great but the following things occurred:
- We were never shown a menu
- After looking online at reasonable menu prices, all the choices that night (other than just pasta) were $30-$35 (we were told there would be a set menu but told nothing of the higher prices)
- Wine glasses were topped off when only half empty and charged as a full glass of wine
- We were asked if we wanted a salad with our meal (as if it were included) and then charged for it
- The 20% gratuity and a $2 credit card fee were lumped together on the bill (giving the appearance of a 21%-25% gratuity per bill)
- We were all made late to the concert because they were late in getting our food to us
- This was all pre-arranged; time of arrival, departure, number in party.
- Basically the food was great and the server was nice enough but we couldn’t enjoy the meal – we had to scarf down the food – no time for coffee, dessert – and rush out of there.
I might go again. A small party would be fine. I talked with one of the owners Dinka, (who is great, by the way,) and she assured me she was working with the server who was in way over her head. No one was happy at the end of the night.
Not the place for a large group. Had an all-round bad experience here in October: waited til now just because we were working with the owner to remedy the problem--to no avail. Group of 20, known to be arriving at 5:30 pm and NEEDED to be gone by 7 pm (symphony concert). 1. Never given a menu, only a HUGE list of options orally to the whole table by one waitress (hence no prices seen). 2. Main dish not served til 7 pm--most of the group shovels in the food or leaves most uneaten. 3. Wine was "topped off" when glasses were half full still (illegal) and another glass charged. 4. Quoted group grattuity of 20%--actual bills contained gratuities of 21-25%. 5. Online prices shown to be in $17-$27 range, while our group paid at least $30-$35 per entree. 6. When 7:20pm arrived and we were begging for our bills so we could get to the concert (one of the composers was in our group), at least half of the group arrived at the concert after it had begun. After multiple discussions with the owner (who had left the restaurant himself to attend his son's football game), the only remedy offered was a bottle of wine if we "stopped by".
Best Italian food I have had in Seattle..
My wife and I went to Seattle to visit a friend. We decided to try this place out due to the reviews. I was kinda leary at first from the place being located in a dirty looking strip mall.
We were in for a very plesant suprise. The staff was very curteous and friendly. We were seated right away and givin our drinks.
We all ordered a different plate and were amazed on how good the food was. The staff was very attentative on how we were enjoying our experience and brought us anything we asked for. I thought it was great to see the owner/head chef bringing orders out to tables.
Great meal everytime.
The local food is always served in a fantastic way. We have had company parties, family dinners and frequently have gone on New Years and Valentines Days. We have take friends visiting town and never hesitated to send local friends or business clients.
The great wine recommendations always seem to match the food every time.
From the Beach Cafe in West Seattle to now Bistro Baffi for 20yrs Michael and Dinka have never disappointed in making the visit a great night out.
The most comfortable place for a special dinner.
The experience of Michael the Chef is what's behind the quality of the food.
Professional, quiet staff know how to anticipate your needs. They don't come asking "How's you folks doing?" when you have a full mouth!
The wine selection is very good.
I have been there several times and I am not getting tired. Every time is a new pleasant experience.
Hidden place; great food. I first went to this place off a Groupon. I am so glad I did this. It was hard to find or not hard but in unknown territory for me. It is inviting from the outside and the inside. It was delightful the way the specials were presented. The staff was extremely friendly. I spent more than the Groupon but it was entirely worth it. The different courses were not served too quickly - plenty of time to enjoy the meal. Each part of the meal just got better and better. It was so delicious. We shared a whole fish - an experience I never had the pleasure of enjoying. We are going back to try some of the other options. Lots of choices.
Ravioli to remember!.
I ordered lobster ravioli because it looked so good on the plate the server showed us. My sister ordered fillet Mignon and we paired it with Super Toscano wine. Fillet Mignon was juicy and grilled to perfection( I had a few bites), but the ravioli "stole the show"! Alfredo sauce kissed with fresh truffles just did it!
I didn't expect to find a restaurant of this caliber at a strip mall in Burien!
What made this place so special is clearly, everything about it! It was challenging to find because it's tucked away in a somewhat residential area.
We were greeted like kings by a friendly host and given a table next to the fireplace. The interior is cozy, and elegant and yet it feels casual and unpretentious. For a starter we had baked baby eggplant that was stuffed with different cheeses and served on spicy marinara. It was luscious and gave eggplant a whole new trend! I was feeling like pasta but once the server showed us a plate with their daily specials, the real dilemma kicked in .I couldn't resist the fresh Alaskan halibut, which turned out to be a great choice. The halibut was fresh, grilled and juicy with roasted bell peppers and cognac sauce. I loved it ! My husband had the homemade pasta with truffle oil , wild mushrooms and Alfredo sauce. I don't usually care for Alfredo sauce, but I tried a little ,and it was sinful! The wine list impressed us. You don't find Vibreti Giovanni Barolos from 1990's very often on wine lists. The server informed us that they also had a rare Barolo selections from 1961. Now that's remarkable for a local Italian restaurant.
We "settled " for Tri Corno Super Toscano, which was suggested to us. It was thick and complex, with deep raspberry flavor and satin finish They don't have a sommelier, but I can assure you that their staff knows how to pair your meal with perfect choice of wine. Looks like the owner not only takes pride in serving phenomenal food , but he also seems to be a great wine connoisseur. We ended our meal with Tiramisu, which was light a delicious, a perfect end to a royal meal!
