Yum!

by curtis206 at Citysearch

referred by friends, we decided to give ZAB a try. the place was in a non-descript strip mall but when you go inside, it is nicely decorated with a fountain, native artifacts and murals. We were seated immediately and the server was there to ask for our beverage choices. I was still looking around at the decor and the high ceiling. The service was great. The glasses and rice was never empty. We ordered the pad thai, yellow curry and three flavored chicken. The pad thai was not too dry or wet and not too chewy. i like that they used diced tofu. The chicken was hot and crispy and the sauce was sweet, sour and spicy. Finally, the yellow curry is to die for. Very smooth, creamy and sweet with the perfect spicy kick. We had 3 stars on all and it was perfect. Enough heat to tingle your lips and bring out the taste in each dish. The portions were good. The three dishes were enough to feed us for two meals. If you are ever in Everett and crave Thai or a decent meal, go to Zab. I'll be sure to be back again.

ZAB! POW! BANG!

by heylorae at Citysearch

A local restaurant in a strip mall, called Zab Thai. Zab - kind of makes me think of a Marvel comic...ZAB... POW ...BANG...An while Zab isn't the kind of restaurant you'd go to to having a whopping good time for happy hour, its a nice relaxing place great for a weekday lunch or a weeknight dinner that won't burn a hole in your wallet.

I have gone there several times and each time feel compelled to tout its merits, of which there are many. Especially, the fact that their prices are reasonable for the quality of the cuisine.

I love the 'Green curry'  or 'Panang curry' dishes. A choice of chicken, pork beef or tofu (and don't underestimate the latter - yummy)  served in a delicious basil coconut sauce ( mild, med, or hot) over steaming jasmine rice. The green curry dish -is also laden with soft sweet eggplant. Yes, eggplant  - that bitter rubbery vegetable that never fails to disappoint when I try to cook it - is somehow transformed to a sweet mouth watering delectable delight.

One curry dish for example is more than enough food for one and runs around $9.40- for dinner with a generous serving. There are lots of choices on the menu, but I always seem to order the same one or two things at the Zab because they are just so yummy.

In addition, the Thai wait staff are friendly and professional which adds to the ambience. And, the decor is fairly comfortable - unlike the cafeteria like style of some Asian restaurants. And most importantly, the lighting is dimmed. How many times have you gone into an Asian restaurant for dinner that has blaringly bright lights blasting the place and making you question whether it might be early morning and you fell into a time warp.? Well, at Zab,  these guys get it....candles, low lighting...they get it!!! The only thing glaring in Zab is the red neon sign of SCHUCKS (automotive) across the parking lot which shows  up prominently through the front window. But it only serves to remind me that if I were to use a word in Zab at the end of a tasty meal it would be ' Shucks' I don't have room for dessert.

  • Pros: quality Thai food very reasonably priced
  • Cons: in a strip mall
