Homey Spanish spot in Roosevelt offers traditional tapas, paella and other dishes from the owners' native Catalonia.

The waiter(or owner or maybe manager) charged us the whole bottle of wine and didn't really apologize. Almost seems like he did it on purpose. He was not really polite and didn't treat us nice. He insisted to order the whole bottle but we didn't want to get drunk so only a glass for each of us. Then he gave us very small We ordered Paella and it wasn't as good as the one I had in San Jose, CA. The atmosphere was OK not super great but their dishes aren't cheap where the quality is just OK. I don't want to go back because the service was poor and the food was just OK.

Abby?s review: This neighborhood restaurant provides a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The Spanish chef is also the co-owner, along with his wife. He creates remarkable food with a genuinely exotic feel, including lovely salads, wonderful seafood, and unusual and authentic dishes that are fun to try. His wife serves as hostess and provides personal and friendly service and great information on the food, the specials, and the wine list. We have visited many times and always found this restaurant to be a special place, whether for a glass of wine and an appetizer or for a full meal. We would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for authentic Spanish cuisine in a relaxing environment conducive to conversation, socializing, and enjoyment of life. Mark?s review: I have never been to Barcelona. Gaudi gives me a taste of the tapas culture. I recommend the tomato salad, the heart of palm salad, the salt-cured tuna, and the mussels on the half shell. Order the specials --the chef is not just phoning this in, he is passionate. It is true there is no ?bread service?. Get over it. It will be an out of culture experience. In response to ?Rude? by clsr561 posted on 10/22/2007, we were the customers who received your table. You were not two minutes late, you were 22 minutes late. The place was packed. We have returned many times; sometimes for a glass of wine and tapas; sometimes for special occasions. Your loss is our gain.

My SO and I have gone a few times and we have had a great experience each visit The menu itself is average size for a tapas place- 3-4 cold tapas, 7-8 warm tapas, and 4-5 main dishes in addition to the Paellas, of which they have 4 different types. The generally have 4-5 specials of various types. Prices are in the $10-25 range, and the paellas run $30+ for 2 people. The food ranges from old standards like "Papas Bravas" and "Garlic shrimp" to more innovative fare. However, the quality is very high and very tasty. The bravas sauce in particular is spicy and creamy and is wonderful on potatoes or bambas (meatballs). Juan (the head chef) does wonderful things with meat and spectacular things with salt-cod. My SO loves the Fiduea (sp), a seafood paella made with noodles instead of rice. My only complaint is that the food can be a little salty sometimes. I do not eat deserts, but the SO loves the Quince tart and the egg custards. The wine list is all Spanish and goes well beyond Rioja. They have several nice Spanish whites in addition to the more commonly known reds and cava. They will often let you sample the wines until you pick one out. I would recommend the Sangria- Jo( the owner) makes THE BEST sangria I have ever had, end of story. The service is friendly and reasonably knowledgeable about the food. The service is directly correlated to how busy it is. The kitchen is a 1-2 person operations and it can be a little slow when it is really busy, but that does not bother us too much. In summary, I like this restaurant. It is not as high end or elegant as the Harvest Vine, but it is not trying to be . It is a nice , friendly place to eat tapas and relax. I can't recommend it enough.
