What People Are Saying About Matador

In Short – A longhorn skull above the main bar, lavish metal artifacts on the walls and antique light fixtures give the room a big dose of character. The atmosphere feels just right for clientele that is well-dressed and includes employees from other area establishments. Wine and beer are offered, but icy margaritas and perfectly stiff well drinks are the popular sips. Main course must-tries include carne asada and ancho-chipotle baby back ribs; those in search of variety can choose from any of the numerous taco and enchilada combinations.

- The Matador's happy hours (4pm-6pm and 10pm-2am) make it a great place to dine before or after shopping at the mall.
Rude Service, never going back
by Mark522 at Citysearch
Rude Rude Rude service from both the bartender and the manager. My wife and I were in with two of our kids on March 12, one of them just 30 minutes from turning 21. We wanted to eat in the restruant portion, but the bartender and the manager both said our soon to be 21 year old could not be there because she was only 20, and in 30 minutes, STILL said she could not be there because he license expired on the 13th. The 13th was 24 hours away, but they would not budge. Told them we were never coming back, and they said good, because they did not want customers like us. I used to eat there often for business lunches and will tell everyone at work as well never to go there. RUDE RUDE RUDE!
If you like oily food
by me0625 at Citysearch
I recently visited for lunch and ordered the chorizo tacos with black beans and rice. My order was brought out and the tacos were dripping out, not a little but a great amount of, oil. When (my waitress) came by again, I asked her if the chorizo tacos are normally this oily here. She went back and asked and shared with me that she was told they could be.
The two tacos dripped enough oil to cover half of the side of the plate where the tacos were sitting next to the rice and beans. I am usually not very picky, but this lunch was definately not what I was expecting.
I thought this was not typical of The Matador and felt the need to take time and share my experience with the management so I went to their website and wrote an email to management. I did not get a response after a week.
If you don't mind a really oily couple of tacos and the lack of response to your feedback, this place is for you.
- Pros: The interior looks nice
- Cons: The food was terrible and response from management matched
Food is lacking in this nicely decorated hangout
by BCRedmond at Citysearch
I stopped in here for the first time with a friend the other night. We had heard good things but were very disappointed in the overly salty calamari and the rather bland crabcakes we ordered.
The service here was good, and the decorations and ambiance are pretty good as well, just think they need to work on their menu or their cooks or something.
- Pros: Solid service and drinks were tasty
- Cons: The food needs some work
love it

When I went (a Sunday night) the service was ok. I had no complaints. Some of the food was excellent, some of it was average.
I like the atmosphere, but it's a small place. And it's also quite open and I'm sure it's very loud on a busy night. The wooden seats could use a cushion.
I would go back, but it wouldn't be my first choice.
