Horrid Experience!.
If I could give them a minus star, I would!
My recent "complimentary visit" to the Sno-Wood Animal Hospital was a disaster from the word "go." Their outrageous expense, "bait & switch" offer of a free consultation, yet charging expensive fees for anything else performed during that complementary visit was nothing short of exploitive to any potential pet owner.
The vet completely misdiagnosed our dog's eyelid tumor as cancerous without biopsy and attempted to get me to schedule immediate surgery. Being involved with animal rescue for a number of years, I am well-informed about animal medical conditions and how to recognize experienced vets. This vet's total ignorance of my dog's breed health issues, as well as her insistence "only overweight dogs develop diabetes" (which is absolutely NOT true), demonstrated a level of incompetence beyond description. This was a major red flag.
Further demonstrating her level of ignorance was when they prescribed a steroid with sulphates in it; which I had emphatically and repeatedly clarified in this visit with this vet and their staff that my dog's breed just did not tolerate any sulfur drugs due to life-threatening allergies with my dog's particular breed. This fell on deaf ears and the vet repeatedly attempted to try to convince me it would be in such small amounts and topically treated that it wouldn't matter. OMG! I had to ask for the medicine insert to show them it was a sulphate drug. Also, the massive markup they were charging for these drugs was unbelievable!
In short, their constant "up-sell" for services and prescriptions, as well as their inability to comprehend owners may be intelligent beings, who know their own dogs was far beyond this vet's ability to understand, for me to ever consider returning.
After leaving the clinic, this vet had the gall to call me at home, to try to still convince/guilt me I should administer this sulfate prescription for my dog's "comfort." Her insulting, arrogant and patronizing attitude was pervasive throughout my conversations with her. This was nothing short of harassment.
I would never trust this vet to work on my dog, after this experience. I took my dog to a canine specialist, who confirmed this other vet's diagnosis was completely wrong about my dog's health condition. I was definitely glad I received a 2nd opinion from another clinic and I will never recommend, or go to this Sno-Wood clinic again.
