The best kept secret in Queen Anne?. Why is this place not packed every night? The superb ambiance, attentive service, tasty cocktails, and some of the best appetizers in town. Don't miss the coconut prawns. Seriously. They are not to be overlooked! Dinner menu is really good, perhaps not as spectacular as the appetizers, but still really good.

This location is closed as of August, 2007.. The Scene
There's not much to look at in this dark, two-part dining room in the heart of Queen Anne--but the gorgeous smells wafting from the kitchen more than make up for the lack of eye candy. Service is somewhat perfunctory, but extremely prompt.

The Food
Skip the appetizers--each entrée comes with both soup (usually some version of lentil) and salad featuring their famous super-garlic dressing (available for sale at the counter). The entrée platters have a small mound of creamy hummus and plenty of buttery rice to help soak up the spices. Shish tawook is slim strips of chicken breast drizzled with a spicy yogurt; the schwarma is a hefty helping of meat (lamb is excellent) with plenty of onion and peppers. All dishes are available spicy--and they mean it. Baklava is a delicate dream--cashews scented with rosewater and honey, topped with pistachios.

good but forgetful. The food has been recomended for years by my mom...I went to their website which said they were not closed during lunch hours...they were! So two hours later we returned to pay double...I payed for extra pita and got only 1. I came back and they corrected their mistake by giving me 3 more which was nice....but then I fouund an eyebrow hair in my food and a knat! Gross....the foos is good but could be more sanitary and less forgetfull.

Warm, kind service & the food's delicious!. I've eaten at both the Q.A. location & the one in Bellevue. Nearly always seated promptly, the tastes just start coming: a basket of warm pita bread, delicious lentil soup, salad with their signature garlicky dressing... and then the humongous entrees. They are attentive to guests, checking to make sure things like water, coffee (great Turkish coffee), etc are replenished.

I love the Farmer's Dish of tangy & garlicky plump chicken wings over rice with their great garlic bechamel. But I'd almost incite violence to get at their lamb shawarma.

The Bellevue location is more romantic. But it's not a diner as intimated by a previous post. It's simply a small restaurant with around 20 tables. I've enjoyed a few dates there & it felt warm, delicious and cozy to us.

In fact, I'll be having a hopefully fantastic 1st date there this Sunday!

That is all.
