In Short
There are some simple things that--when done right--are transcendental. Justin Neidermeyer's pasta--long heralded within the Seattle food community--has found its home, and outpost, at Capitol Hill's Spinasse. The homey Italian restaurant feels both rustic and familiar; a grandmother's kitchen, a beloved dining nook in a Northern Italian farmhouse, a well-worn living room in the family estate. Behind the lace curtains lies a bustling kitchen and an adoring audience of well-heeled diners, bellying up to the bar to watch the action or slinking into a seat at one of the stately wooden tables. Spinasse is beloved by everyone from the foodie cult to the young professional crowd to your dad's best friend.

Came here to celebrate a promotion with my boyfriend and left very happy. We sat at the bar which I highly recommend, the bartender was so friendly, very, very attentive and helpful with the menu. The pasta was absolutely delicious, definitely handmade and it melts in your mouth. The food was so different and while a little pricey, it's to be expected with the type of food and quality. We loved every plate we had and the service was excellent, making it a great night to remember.

Oh where do I begin? I hated this place so much that I signed up with Citysearch just so I could write this review: 1) They obviously didn't think about what would happen if they had people waiting. There is nowhere to wait! You are scrunched between the wall and the railing with servers flying by you with trays of food. 2) They obviously have no concept of how reservations work. We made reservations for 8:30pm, and we weren't seated until 9:30pm. (They also only offered us free appy's after we complained that we'd been standing around for almost an hour.) 3) Apparently, they don't understand the question, "Is this place vegetarian friendly?" They said they are, but they are definitely not. 4) They're push for authenticity ends up making them seem like they're full of it. 5) They shouldn't put things on the menu that they can't make. The rabbit was horribly overcooked. 6) For what we paid, I expected a little taste of heaven, I got noodle-roni. 7) They need to figure out how to work their credit card machine because most people in my party were charged multiple times, and now we're waiting for them to fix it. They also don't seem to be the least bit remorseful. 8) There are a million great Italian places in Seattle, go there. Not here, please not here.

Bland food, indifferent staff, over-priced...what more could you ask for in a restaurant? I can't imagine it will be around for too much longer...so hurry in.
