Make sure to schedule plenty of time to enjoy the meal. It's so great to see a local chef do so well and still working in the kitchen and walking the room.

Fabulous. I have been here for dinner a few times and on several ocassions have sat at the bar for a light meal. The food is always outstanding and they have some of the best bartenders in the city. By the way, the eggplant fries are great, but somtimes they have to be skipped because one needs room for dessert.

fun presentation. our second time there the host checked my beau's coat (we thought it was in a coat check secured) and turns out it was put up on a rack in the hallway near the restrooms. He went to get it and it was gone, car keys and all. Well the owner was there, he was mortified and paid for a locksmith, new keys and gave us a gift card, he was so nice and was willing to replace the coat. Due to his chivalry, i will return

Little bites of deliciousness. Poppy is such a different dining experience from anything I have experienced before. They serve food in thali’s, which are small amounts of a variety of foods that pair together well. You get a big plate of an assortment of dishes. I swear, every time I go there the next dish tastes better than the one before it. How can things always be getting better? Is there no end to the deliciousness? I recommend having a reservation as they tend to be busy, but if you just stop by you can hang out at the bar and eat there. If so, I highly recommend the eggplant fries with honey! They have a great drink menu and the bar tenders are by far some of the nicest and most helpful I have ever met. They totally want to help you pick out the perfect drink and I so appreciate that. Some of my favorite dishes from New Years Even dinner there: Dungeness crab, avocado and shiso salad; BC scallops on sunchoke with Buddha’s Hand and taggia olives; mashed cauliflower with sumac and sesame; and the swiss chard gratin. This was not all that came on the thali, but they were my favorites of the night.

Try it once. Overall the experience was a strong middle "B".

The menu offered many new flavor combos, which makes this a great place to try once. This is, however, a fusion restaurant, NOT INDIAN, as advertised. Don't go expecting Indian fare.

The eggplant fries were great.

The wait staff was friendly & professional.

The prices were high.

Absolute Perfection. I am very critical,& this was one of the best dinners i've ever had.Thali for a long weekend-first hot crispy eggplant fries & excellent margarita. Then a very filling and generous thali with perfectly cooked duck breast & copper river salmon. The many pickles, vegetables, & soup were

exciting and delicious.Fiddleheads with chile, parsley walnut soup, asparagus salad, cauliflower gratin,etc..etc...

Flavors I will never forget, balanced and thrilling. Too full for dessert, so I'm going back soon to try the tempting warm date cake and house made ice creams.Very good prices, very good service, very nice evening!

A Wonderful Melody of Small Bites. I have been to Poppy many times and have continually been thrilled with the food and the ambiance - In fact, it is my new favorite Seattle Restaurant. Yes, the portions are quite small, however I have found the tastes to be so robust that I have never wanted more than what was served. I am always impressed with the incredible gastronomic pairings - a bit of one dish enjoyed at the same time as another creates quite a party in the mouth! I am also in love with their gewurztraminer grape juice, a delicious way to enjoy a glass of vino without the zip.

Everything was the same color. I recently took my partner here for his birthday with friends. We, too, were fans of the Herbfarm, but our Poppy experience seemed flat for us. When our thalis arrived it was confusing as to which each portion was relative to the menu description. The food was all about the same color and the portions were tiny. The best part of the meal was the teeny serving of soup. I also thought that the idea of having one menu clipped to a board at the table for 4 people to share at the same time seemed odd. I loved the interior and what they had done with the space, but expected something more impactful for food. I don't know if any of us would return as we were overall disappointed -- but not with our waiter who was great. We are hoping that the chef/owner can modify Poppy's menu from what was initially a novel idea to be more inclusive of people that maybe just want one main course.

Am i enjoying my thali experience?. No! And i'm even more annoyed that this place has an ego big enough to send a waitress over to our table to ask that question. Look, this place feels inviting. It's a fun, modern, low-key atmosphere that sets you up for an enjoyable evening. The question is, at what point in your meal do you see through all the fiction and realize that you're paying $80 for a meal for two (w/out drinks!), and your food was mediocre at best. Big thali plate for $30, small for $20+. The short rib was all fat, and was supposed to be the "main dish". It was two bites. The small sides were bland, and i spent about 3 minutes thinking the concept of having many plates was interesting before i realized that none of them tasted good. I'm from New York City, and to some people that might mean i'm a food snob. But i'm not. I'm simply a value guy. Because i can get GREAT food for reasonable prices, with the option of having exceptional food at high prices. Poppy is poor food at an unfair price.
