Fresh, wide variety of rolls & Japanese beer on tap. Cozy atmosphere with a liquor bar top & sushi bar to sit at. Weekend happy hours.
great place. Been there quite a few times now and always had great sushi and service, the happy hour is awesome also. The place seems very clean and well kept, which goes a long ways when you're eating raw fish. The only reason I do not give it 5 stars is because it is in Ballard and naturally that means the parking is terrible. Still worth going though!
One of the best local sushi spots!.
We were recently introduced to Shiku Sushi by friends who live near there and they said we just HAD to try it! Now I'm telling you, you HAVE to try it!
We waited about 10 even though we had a reservation, but it was worth it. The service was spot on - our waitress was super nice and quick. We ordered some of their garlic edamame so we could compare it to that of Mashiko and it was spot on.
My husband and I enjoy rolls and nigiri so we sampled both and we were not let down. The fish was flavorful without being overpowering.
BONUS: If you are on Foursquare, check out their deals! We checked-in and received a free pint of Sapporo - what a great idea!
Sometimes a crowd outside the door alludes to new hype over a restaurant. Shiku delivered on fabulous sushi and a great night out!
Fabulous Sushi.
The sushi at Shiku Sushi is absolutely fabulous, never had anything that we didn't like. They are understanding of various food needs and are willing to make changes if you need them. They even have tamari for those of you who are gluten intolerant and can't use regular soy sauce (like myself). While I have never eaten off the cooked menu, it seems fairly extensive and our friends enjoyed their selections.
The staff here are very friendly, to the point of calling my cell phone when our table was ready so we could walk around Ballard while we waited. The atmosphere is neighborly, the restaurants lights are totally dimmed and the whole place sings happy birthday.
Truly a lovely place to eat.
Best Sushi experience in town. I was excited to hear that a new Sushi place was opening in Ballard! Little did I know that it would rank in my top Sushi experiences. I have been there about 5 times since its opening, and have found their sushi to be extremely consistent and top of the line. My mouth is watering just thinking about it! I have been to most of the top Sushi places in Seattle and think those are wonderful too, but Shiku beats them all. The staff there is amazing as well, probably the friendliest I have come across. The Sushi chef (and I think he is an owner too) Johnny is a crack-up and always sending out free sushi for people to try. Even if you don't like sushi that much their "non sushi menu? is incredible I would recommend the slow roasted pork tenderloin, or the Kobe beef! I am a definitely a Sushi snob and would never write a recommendation unless I really thought it was an exceptional experience!
