Love my haircut.....
by susangrin at Citysearch
I needed a new salon, so I chose one in West Seattle. Luckily It was Pinup, and adorable tiny salon on Harbor Drive. Madison did my hair, and she really listened. I was so tired of my long wavy hair and ready for an easy shorter style. This is the best cut I've had in years. It's been over a month and it looks like it was cut yesterday.
I also wanted to change the color and she was great with that, too. She picked color that looked so natural with my skin tone, and brightened up my face. After a month the color still looks fresh and crisp.
Lastly, I was looking for new hair products and the Loma Pearatin and AG products Madison used on me are super. They helped keep the color from fading and my hair is super manageable and shiny, and best of all not greasy. Plus they protected my hair from damage by my blow dryer and flat iron.
I highly recommend Madison, and the Pinup Salon. They have great deals on Facebook so remember to like them before you book your appointment.
Great Color, Awful Cut
by UrbanNaturalist at Citysearch
I'm a curly, wavy blonde who heard Pinup was a good West Seattle salon. I love the pinup girl style and appreciated being able to book an appointment by email.
The stylist I saw did a great job listening to what I wanted for color and delivered on her word.
The cut felt like an after-thought. She said she'd studied curly hair and did a great job with the color. So I thought it was ok until the next day I washed and dried my hair - I ended up with two puffy clumps of hair around my face.
In my email I had requested a brow wax, but they didn't seem to have that set-up in the salon, and no mention was made of that part of my service request.
Ultimately I want a salon where I can get expert care in all three departments: cut, color, brow waxing. I would highly recommend pinup for color, but leave the cutting to someone else.
- Pros: Great Color
- Cons: Bad Cut
Super happy with the service

I found this place through a Groupon deal, and have been back several times. I thought I'd go back to the hairstylist, I'd been going to, but Ronda has a way with my hair. I've been over the moon each and every time.
The shop is super cute. And I love the coffee stand that right outside of the front door.
- Pros: Great haircuts and color
- Cons: NA
Not worth the hassle!

Make a long story short...i bought a groupon to receive hair services from this salon w/o doing my proper research. To say the least, my hair turned out orange with blonde pieces when it was suppose to be a caramel brown full foil. Jennifer, the owner, refused me a redo, without me first paying $30 for the product charge, hence, let me remind you that my hair was ORANGE. She then proceeds to complain to me on the phone how groupon customers were demanding, how she's lost so much money on the groupons, and then blamed me for my hair turning out the way it did. She would not make me happy as the customer and did not even stop through her ranting and raving so that i could explain my situation until i asked her if i could talk now. Horrible business owner...one piece of advice, don't advertise on groupon and then complain about it. I tipped my stylist 20% of the $140 so there was no way i was being cheap even though i was disgusted by the color. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE!!!
- Pros: None
- Cons: horrible service, incompetent owner
Super cute salon on Alki does great work too!

I went there on a Groupon deal and will definitely go back. I had terrible service at Shanti Salon in West Seattle and was in search of a new place to patronize. Rhonda, the stylist, was great -did beautiful color and a quick trim. The salon in small, but super quaint -AND Rhonda says they'll provide wine if you come by in the evening! Now that's service!!
- Pros: They have a low-flow toilet and next door to espresso stand
- Cons: Bathroom is outside- Not ideal for foils
