Terrible service. Homophobic remarks were made to my gay friend by the "manager" who then towered over and yelled in my face after we politely complained about how long the wait was. We were the only group waiting for a table for more than 30 minutes and an entire section of the restaurant was closed. The Manager, Jack Hernandez yelled in my face "don't tell me how to do my job" and then continued yelling in right close in my face, not even allowing me to speak. Finally after we were already trying to just leave and he wouldn't get out of my personal space I swore at him which is out of character for me but I felt threatened. He said I had not right to swear and I said, its America I'll say what I want, to which he replied "not in here its not America amigo, adios amigos". Then as we were voluntarily leaving he threatened to call the cops and write down my license plate, even so far as following us out to the parking lot yelling which resulted in other customers just arriving turning around and leaving as well. Unbelievable...

Busy and Popular. Very friendly service, from the hostess to the waiters. Can be a bit slow though on getting your food. Not sure if our waitress was hustling between too many tables or what, but we had a bit of a wait. Food was basic Americana, but very tasty. Love their fresh squeezed orange juice and their chocolate malts. The gravy for the biscuits needed more flavor--tasted basically like wet, gooey, flour.

Cute family friendly restaurant. Good food, good size portions and reasonable prices make the Blackbear a favorite of ours.

A family owned chain originally started in Northern California you can find them in many towns along the I-5 corridor
