Stumptown Coffee
Centrally located in the heart of Cap Hill this comfortable spot roasts their beans just blocks away and offers a lively but not obnoxiously loud spot to work or have a conversation with a friend.
They have grown from PDX to NYC in a short amount of time for good reason. Just happy they stopped in Seattle along the way. Robust and complex beans that will make your mouth smile and head spin. Coffee with a conscious is the bonus! I am a huge fan for their ethics alone, add the quality of the coffee and it's a home run! Don't forget to take a bag of beans home too when you stop in for your latte!

A stylish stop with a cool neon sign and a staff that once refused to let me leave until I took a free, end-of-day pastry.
Heavenly coffee served with a back-to-basics philosophy at the Seattle outpost of Portland's legendary coffeehouse..
In Short
If you thought that Capitol Hill couldn't support yet another boutique coffeehouse, think again. This Portland-based company is dedicated to the quality of their beans and the richness of their roast-meticulous, daily in-house roasting ensures consistent, fresh beans with character and rest assured that coffee in the self-serve pump is French press, made frequently. The rows of modern-looking tables at this small coffeeshop make it a good place to spend the afternoon lingering over the free Wi-Fi but the closeness of the tables isn't a great encourager of conversation. Stumptown also sells bags of its own beans. At $10 to $12, they don't exactly come cheap, but their quality is beyond compare.
