Delicious Thai. Jhanjay is the newest kid on the Thai block in Ballard and is quite possibly the very best one. Ironically, it's vegetarian. I've eaten here several times and have always been impressed by depth of flavor, quality of ingredients and their friendly service. Recently I had a craving for green onion pancake, yeah technically it's not really Thai, but I ordered a serving to go, they were extremely accommodating. The pancake honestly was not one of the best in Seattle, served with a peanut sauce, that's probably the Thai interpretation. The Tom Kha, the Thai version of sweet and sour soup with coconut milk was fantastic, with just the right amount of kick for my taste, hints of lemongrass evident, a plethora of veggies and steamed tofu (you can also pick fried). I like that they offer the cup or bowl option, if you want a bit of soup with your meal. Curries are fragrant, my standard red curry didn't stand out as the best ever, but a good solid rendition. Jhanjay is well priced, most dishes under $10. I'd like to go back with a group so we can try more dishes, including some of their house specialties.

The space is also a plus, very clean, exposed brick, well lit and overall a pleasant environment. I promise, you won't miss the meat. They do standard Thai fare very well in a beautiful setting with attentive service.

Best Thai food in Seattle!. Finally there is a great Thai restaurant in Seattle! The food is flavorful, beautifully presented and the portions are just the right size.Try the Sampler platter, it's a delicious surprise. The Tom Yum soup is packed with fresh vegetables, cooked just perfectly. Try the Buddha's basket and the Mountains of mushrooms. The brown rice is chewy and moist, the best I ever had! And all this amazing food is vegetarian! Kudos to the owners for opening such a great eatery!
