Horrible Customer Service.
Ordering cupcakes at Sage Cafe is like that Television commercial "Welcome to USA Prime Credit, my name is Peggy........" In fact the TV commercial is a walk in the park compared to this place.
You will enter a customer service Twilight Zone from which you will emerge without your cupcake order.
I just dare anyone to try to order one dozen cupcakes
and write your experience here!
More mac n yease, please.. I was so excited to try this place which was recently named sage cafe, formerly a hillside quickie by the same owners as plum and in the same location as the hillside quickie. It took a little effort to get in and try it though, as they close early and open late on the weekends. This made making it for brunch a tad bit difficult but I am glad I waited and finally got there. Its defintely nicer than the hillside quickie in the U district, but no where near as fancy as plum, although the mac n yease is delicious at both locations. There were lots of options on the menu, breakfast things, pizza, sandwhiches, etc. My food was really great, but unfortunately it was a bit greasy so I could only eat half in one sitting but did finish it up shortly later at home. Country fried seitan steak is pretty good, and grits with gravy are awesome too. My boyfriend had the more tranditional pancake dish as he is afraid of wierd vegan food but he enjoyed it all the same. His was a bit sweet for my liking though. I definetely would go back again, and maybe more often if they made themselves open more often.
