I was told to either walk or swim for exercise but to avoid repeat motions used with vacuuming and raking leaves or prolonged sitting or walking a lot with improper shoes. I have been taking Celebrex to control inflammation for years. Until December 28, 2012 I have never been to a chiropractor. I had major flare up of sciatica in my buttocks and down both legs. My former orthopedic doctor passed away in early December so I couldn't see him. I had just read Anna Cummins' article in the Somerset Sun. I have known Anna and her parents for over 25 years, so I called Cummins Chiropractic. Anna answered and I saw Dr. Bob Cummins one hour later. I have been seeing Dr. Bob three times a week since December 28th. I have had back decompression stretching, cold later treatments, chiropractic manipulations, massage treatments, icing and exercises. The sciatica is almost gone. My right knee femoral patella pain syndrome is getting better but will need more physical therapy, chiropractic, exercise, and massage appointments. Dr. Bob has helped relieve my pain and has inspired me to lead a healthier lifestyle. He has been determined to make sure I can leave on a 28 day cruise for February with a plan of exercises to do. I highly recommend Dr. Cummins to others to learn how to treat their issues without using narcotic pain medication and by using natural food and supplement anti-inflammatory methods.
In the few years prior to being treated by Dr. Cummins, I experienced the onset, and worsening, of pain in my hip, lower back and neck. In my usual manner, I avoided treatment until the pain was unbearable. By the time I sought treatment in February 2011, I was experiencing the following difficulties every day: ? The pain in my neck severely limited my mobility. I was unable to lift my head off the pillow in the morning, and I was unable to turn my head enough to look over my right shoulder. ? My left hip and knee were in constant pain, with very limited mobility. ? I was losing approximately 4 hours of sleep every night due to hip, leg and knee pain. It would take hours to get to sleep. If I could sleep, then I would wake from pain four times or more every night. To get some rest, I was forced to find means to lessen the pain; for instance, positioning pillows under the mattress to allow my knees and hip to flex slightly helped. ? I walked with a pronounced limp, and I had a very difficult time putting on socks or tying my left shoe. Driving had become extremely uncomfortable and quite painful after about an hour of sitting. Dr. Cummins' treatment has brought about dramatic improvement in everything listed above. We began with chiropractic and massage therapy. Initially, most noticeable were the rapid improvements in my neck and lower back. My pain levels quickly and steadily decreased. Dr. Cummins then prescribed orthotics for me, greatly improving my lower back (tailbone) issues. The pain levels and mobility in my neck and lower back continued improving for over 6 months, by which time they were no longer significantly affecting my daily life. My hip, however, continued to be a constant source of pain. In fact, the pain had continued to increase over time. Dr. Cummins referred me to a hip specialist for x-rays. We found that there was a loss of cartilage in the hip joint, causing compacted bone in the joint. [Because this is outside Dr. Cummins' area of expertise, he referred me to another hip specialist for consultation. Due to their schedule, I have an appointment with them on a future date.] Dr. Cummins wisely sought a drug-free approach to pain management. His recommendation was to try laser therapy. I was very skeptical at first, but as he explained the treatment option, his firm grasp on the physiological processes involved convinced me it was worth a try. We began using the super-pulsed laser on my hip just a few weeks ago. The affect was immediate and dramatic. From the day of first session, I've been able to sleep through every night without waking from pain. The constant suffering is no longer debilitating: I can put on socks and tie my shoe without wincing and struggling; driving is no longer uncomfortable, even after an hour behind the wheel. The pain has diminished so much, in fact, that I've been able to take up rock climbing in a limited way, with the goal of building muscle in my legs, hips and back. Dr. Cummins's chiropractic therapy, holistic approach to wellness, and innovative use of technology has put me on a path to recovery. My quality of life has vastly improved over the past year, and Dr. Cummins has my deepest gratitude for making this possible.
While working out at Crossfit, I have experienced a vertebra in my neck slipping out of place and when I run long distances I have extreme tightness in my hips. I mainly experience issue with my neck and my hips, and that led me to seek help and get adjusted. Before the adjustments I was immobile. I knew that I had more range of motion then my body was allowing me, but I felt stuck and tight. My experience in working with Dr. Cummins.. It's been wonderful! I have noticed the effects of working with Dr. Cummins during my competitions. Everything seems to flow better and I feel as if I could perform any movement that I wanted or needed to, with out any hesitation. It has definitely helped my health and performance. My performance is better all around! I do not experience any rigidity in my movements. It feels as though everything lined up and strong! I have also noticed that my muscles and body move better when there working together properly. I already have and I will continue to recommend Dr. Cummins to anyone who is looking to feel better and move better through the power of chiropractic.
I had serious neck, back and hip problems because I was in an accident in March of 2012. I was in a lot of pain all the time. I also wasn't the healthiest I could be. I needed help, so I started seeing Dr. Cummins in April. I saw Dr. Cummins a few times each week to get adjusted and traction on my lower back. I cant say enough about the positive energy and just plain awesomeness of the whole staff. Honestly the positive influence I have had has changed my life and my health. I've lost weight, started eating healthier and working out more. Since I've gotten so much healthier, I've also brought my children to see Dr. Cummins regularly. Dr. Cummins, Paula and Anna are truly wonderful people who aren't just doing a job. They really care. Thank you so much to everyone at Cummins Chiropractic for helping me and my family get healthy and so much happier.
For a long time now I have suffered from fatigue and a fizzy feeling in my lower legs (knees down to feet) when I walk uphill, up stairs or even bicycling. This would make me have to stop and take a break until feeling subsided. It has kept me from being as active as I know I can be and making me feel older and limited in my choices. Through my daughter, I visited Dr. Cummins. Dr. Cummins did the exam and found that my hips and pelvis was really tight and sore. Dr. Cummins started treatment and chiropractic adjustments and after only 4 sessions I felt considerably better. I can now walk uphill without the fizzy feeling or fatigue. Doing chiropractitc work with Dr. Cummins has improved my daily life tremendously and I whole heartedly recommend him. Thank you so much!
I am extremely grateful for the care from Dr. Cummins..
At age 18, I was diagnosed with lumbar scoliosis and was told that I would probably not have any back issues as I grew older. Boy, were they wrong!
Physical activity has always been an integral part of my life. Growing up, I participated in the basic sports, such as football and track. I also enjoyed the more non-traditional sports like racquetball, tennis, and golf. I water-skied in the summer and snow-skied in the winter. In my early 20?s, I got hooked on volleyball, playing indoor and outdoor leagues, doubles, quads, and sixes, three and four times each week. In my mid-to-late 30?s, mountain biking became my passion sport as I began to experience more and more low back pain from the higher impact sports I was playing at the time. In my early 40?s, I really began to struggle with almost any physical activity. I quit running, fly fishing, hunting and biking. Soon, even simple tasks, such as standing and walking became more and more difficult as the pain intensified. As my activity levels decreased, my mental and emotional outlook began to falter. Pain was with me 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Throughout the years, I had heard of, and tried, many therapies from traditional medical methods, such as pain medication and anti-depressants, physical therapy, massage therapy, and various types of chiropractic treatments. I spent countless hours researching new treatment protocols for pain management as I desperately wanted to avoid back surgery. During this time, I read about a new chiropractic technique on the internet that was specifically suited to help people with scoliosis manage their pain and provide them with a different alternative to surgery. Even though it was clear that this treatment would not ?cure? my scoliosis, it provided an alternative for my pain management quest.
After six months of treatment from Dr. Cummins, I can honestly say that it has been life-changing. His approach embodies basic elements of structural mechanics that have provided me with decreased pain with prolonged, pain-free periods of time. He is professional, honest, intelligent, and has strong clinical skills coupled with an intuitive knowledge of how this disease process impedes the biomechanical movement of the human body. I have gone from only being able to stand and walk for a 60-90 seconds to walking for more than 30 minutes with minimal pain since I have been under his care.
I think the most compelling testimonial that I can provide is that when I had reached my early 40?s, I came to the realization that I would never play volleyball again. I had completely given up. One month after working with Dr. Cummins, I was asked to play on our company sponsored volleyball team for a local recreational league. I decided that I would just coach and help the team develop some basic offensive and defensive skills. After the first few games, I was feeling better and decided that I could probably play as the team?s setter without too much trouble and physical discomfort. W
Give Dr. Cummins a chance. You won?t regret it..
A couple years ago I experienced several accidents?falling on ice I broke my left wrist, fell from a balcony and jarred my whole body cutting my leg to the bone and then while exercising pulled a muscle that felt like a tear. I was in extreme pain. I took pain medication and hot baths but still was in a great deal of pain. I went to physical therapy for about six (6) months. They moved their office and it was too difficult to find another physical therapist so I continued doing all of the exercises prescribed for awhile and eventually felt better. Even continuing with the exercises, I had a hard time getting rid of the pain in my right hip. After a year I noticed that it was significantly better like something inside healed but I still had times when it hurt really bad leading me to believe that something wasn?t right. I didn?t hurt when I walked but getting in and out of the car was not a pleasant experience. I grocery shop and run errands for my 85 year old mother and found that I just dreaded all of the movement that was required but I needed to do it and it upset me that I was actually in pain. I have never had chronic pain in all of my years and I didn?t like it at all.
A friend introduced me to Dr. Cummins and I thought it over for awhile and decided that it was time to do something about my pain issue. I wanted it to go away and, hopefully, go away for good! I knew that I needed to get back on an exercise and stretching routine, lose weight and take better care of myself and now was the time. I just needed direction to make sure that I was doing the right things.
I visited a chiropractor one other time when I injured my neck while lifting a heavy saucepan in a restaurant I owned in Oregon. After a series of sessions, I found myself pain free so it was easy for me to give chiropractic care a chance again. They wanted me to have surgery but with chiropractic care, I did not have to have surgery and that was 12 years ago.
What impressed me the most about my visit with Dr. Cummins is that he covers wellness issues. He is interested in the wholeness/wellness of his patients. He took ex-rays, stress tests and reviewed everything before setting a plan for me. When I visit the office, I go through the stretching exercises, traction and adjustments that are specific to me and my needs. I review all of the things that I need to be working on for self care to rebuild a healthy lifestyle for myself. I am the only one who can make the changes that will make sure that I remain healthy and active for the rest of my life. Dr. Cummins is pleasant and communicative as he works with me. He involves me completely in my therapy. It is then up to me to make sure that I practice all of the care outside of the appointments. I am building good habits through his direction for making sure that I remain pain free.
If you are not sure about chiropractic care but are sick of hurting, give Dr. Cummins a chance. You won?t regret it. He has a wonderful staff who make it
They really made me feel a whole lot better.
I am a member of the University of Washington varsity crew, but I also love several different martial arts, mountain biking, skiing, and pretty much anything that requires maximum stress on the body to provide a maximum amount of fun and fitness. Although I have a team of physical trainers that help me with minor injuries, the pain never completely goes away. After a more serious injury at a Jiu-Jitsu sparing match, Dr. Cummins explained an analyzed my spine after an x-ray scan. Under his care, he made the excruciating pain go away in record time with his permanent healing methods, making it possible for me to keep proving myself on every athletic battlefield. I am forever grateful, Dr. Cummins!!!!
After an injury during a Jiu-Jitsu sparring match, I injured my upper back to the level of not being able to turn my head in all directions. During a period of four chiropractic sessions with Dr. Cummins, the pain is completely gone from my spine. I like the feeling of unlimited trust that I have in Dr. Cummins?s knowledge and chiropractic skills. I would defiantly recommend this treatment for others! Because the results of the treatment are obvious and almost instant and the atmosphere in the clinic makes you feel better if you had a hard and stressful day. I hope Cummins Chiropractic and Wellness keeps doing their great work because they really made me feel a whole lot better, not only with their expertise, but also with their friendly approach and focused goal: healing a patient permanently.
I highly recommend Dr. Cummins and wish I had met him sooner.
I started suffering from low back pain 2 years ago. I thought rest, massage and ibuprofen would heal it. I was skeptical of chiropractors due to a problem my father had with one 30 years ago. Fast forward 18 months. Dr. Cummins came to my company Health Fair. His total approach to wellness caught my attention. Clearly my self-medicating and massage were not working. He gave a brief overview of his beliefs and approach along with a complimentary posture exam. His warmth and friendliness convinced me to go to his office for a more in depth exam. After thoroughly explaining my results and his recommendations, I felt comfortable enough to begin treatment. After ONE treatment my back felt significantly better. I couldn?t believe it! Here I suffered for 18 months for nothing. I knew one treatment would make me feel better, but not completely fix the problem. Each continuing treatment yielded better and better results. Now, 2 months later, I no longer have any problems or pain.
I highly recommend Dr. Cummins and wish I had met him sooner.
Dr. Cummins is a spectacular chiropractor.. Before coming to Cummins Chiropractic and Wellness, I had a chronic shoulder problem that I had for a year. I thought it wouldn
