Service Dog Academy is the best!.
I am so impressed with Mary! I started bringing my Great Dane for service dog training to her at 10 weeks old. Here he is, 6 1/2 months old and he's so well behaved, he can accompany me in public! He actually goes to school with me and sits in my classes.
Mary is extremely knowledgeable in her field and she not only trains the dog, she trains the person too! She has taught me many skills on how to handle day to day situations as well as obedience training and now task training. Her methods are very humane and creates a wonderful connection between owner and dog. Every day, my bond with Marduk grows stronger.
The fact that I live in North Everett and take the buses everywhere due to my disability doesn't deter me from going all the way into West Seattle. If Mary was in Renton, I'd bus there to train with her!
I highly recommend the Service Dog Academy to anyone who wants a better behaved dog. Mary also does individual pet training sessions as well as small classes for puppies and adults.
Best Dog Training in Town. Mary loves her job and it shows in her interaction with them. I spent months researching how to go about picking and training my own Service Dog. Suffice it to say - there isn't a "simply add water" solution. Luckily I had stumbled across the West Seattle Service Dog Academy site well before I even brought my puppy home. Though I read over a dozen books on raising and training puppies, nothing really fully prepares you for "Puppy Motherhood"! Thank goodness I enrolled in Mary's Puppy Kindergarten and now my puppy and I are having tons of fun learning and she is well on her way to being a great Service Dog. Mary's new studio is very well located and Mary is awesome with the dogs. Thanks Mary. I recommend her training to anyone who wants a better puppy dog. :)
Fantastic Service Dog Training. Mary's service dog training is simply excellent. I found her to do accelerated training on my service dog over the summer so I could have a full SD by the time I went to college in the fall. Mary helped me pick out a dog by running a detailed personality test and then worked with me individually twice a week until school started. Her rates are really reasonable, and she has a sliding scale for SD owners depending on income, so I was able to afford enough training to get my dog ready for college on time. I'll admit I don't always follow her recommendations when I get frustrated, and I snap at my dog sometimes instead of using her all-positive methods, but I know that if I did always use them, he'd probably behave just about all the time! Mary is wonderful... if you have a disability, even a mental health problem like mine, she never makes you feel inadequate or singled out. She's really nice and an amazing trainer. Go see Mary! You won't regret it.
The place to go for the training you need!. Mary is absolutely wonderful! My great dane, Mya, and I have been doing individual training with her and I cannot believe the progress. Mary not only provides training, but she also gives helpful tips for just dealing with day to day issues. I am so happy I was able to find the Service Dog Academy. Being able to train my own mobility and hearing dog was important to me and Mary is making my dream a reality.
Service Dog Academy Training. These classes were very helpful for my puppy and me! The six-week classes at the community center worked for me because of the location, the parking, hours, costs, and the size of the class. Mary really helps you in working with your dog on training in a positive environment and you do come away with a lot of information that will be effective for you and your dog. My dog has improved a lot since the first week and I hope to register her in the advanced classes once they become available.
Service Dog Academy. I have been working with Mary McNeight of the Service Dog Academy since April of this year (2010). She is phenomenal! I have worked with 2 other trainers in the past with other dogs I have had, but Mary far surpasses any trainer I have seen and is better than the Dog Whisperer on TV. My dog is being trained as a service dog for mental health issues, not as a pet. This requires a different kind training. She has held my hand and guided me through the process skillfully. Mary is very attuned to my needs as well my dog's. She has never worked with a dog as small as mine (5 lb. miniture Shih Tzu) for service work but is doing an exceptional job. The education about dog behavior has been almost as valuable than the training itself. I have never felt more supported and competent as a dog owner as I have with Mary.
