Chungee's turns the food snobs on their heads and embraces the often poo-pooed Chinese-American style of Chinese food. The exaggeration of the stereotypes of this style of restaurant are present in the logo and design of the restaurant, but the food is kept muted, staying true to the flavors and styles of the restaurants it pays homage too while updating it for the Capitol Hill palate—mainly by being less greasy than you may encounter elsewhere. The bar is small, but a friendly, bubbling place where the drinks are strong; the patio is also a good option, especially if you’d like to sit with Fido, since he’s allowed there, too.
