What Our Expert Scouts Are Saying

Vessel
Nearly two years after closing his original incarnation near the 5th Avenue Theater, Jim Romdall has relaunched Vessel in a space large enough to encapsulate his many adoring fans and bartender groupies alike. The place moved into the lofty Red Balloon corner lot on 7th and Olive. Now, instead of squeezing into a tiny slice of cocktail heaven, drinkers now have plenty of elbow room to lift a Collins glass as well as a fork. Chef Cameo McRoberts (late of Kathy Casey Food Studios and Little Water Cantina) is whipping up lunch, happy hour and dinner bites that raise the bar on bar food. Think sous vide tuna nicoise and an Old Fashioned sundae using rye whiskey caramel, brandied cherries and angostura gelato courtesy of Gelatiamo. If you're not drunk after dessert, may we suggest a cocktail?

Smack dab in the middle of downtown, this is the perfect place for office workers to grab a $6 Manhattan during Happy Hour. Not just for working stiffs though, belly up to this sleek bar anytime of the day for some of the best cocktails and bites this city has to offer.

Arguably Seattles' Best bartenders make magic happen in a glass. Spot on cocktail program, delicious bar fare and an elegant room to feel all grown up in. Beats the hassle of the hill and easy after hours parking!

It's a restaurant. It's a bar. It's great for lunch and even better for happy hour when a ten spot gets you a manhattan and a generous bowl of foie popcorn.

There's a lot of drink on this downtown menu, but you can't go wrong with the Sexy Old Fashioned, which was also featured in Imbibe Magazine. It's a mix of rye, bourbon, benedictine, angostura and a dash of both pimento dram and simple syrup, stirred and strained over a large ice cube an garnished with an orange twist.

Who doesn't love $5 handcrafted cocktails and foie gras popcorn? In its new location, Vessel has a very metropolitan vibe yet keeps it real Seattle with tree innards bar and table tops and drink masters behind the bar.

It's been a long time coming but Vessel is finally reopened in their new location. With a rotating crew of the cities best bartenders you'll probably never get the same drink twice, but you can keep showing up and keep trying! And they are open for lunch with tasty food (cocktail optional)!

Tips for Vessel

January 15, 2013

Vessel is destination worthy for locals, theater goers, and out of town guests seeking a well-crafted drink. The cocktail menu never gets stale because it changes nightly based upon the rotating renowned bartenders serving up craft cocktails. Be sure to hit up happy hour for $6 Manhattans and ask your bartender about their ice program.
