The word Rumba is wonderful because it’s more than half “rum,” much like me when I step onto the dance floor to have my hand at it. At Rumba, Seattle's first rum bar, though there is precious little dancing. The focus is on the drinks, island themed, and the interior, a multi-tiered space made to look like 1950’s Cuba with a breezy, masculine library feel. Beverages, like their mean mojito, are handled by pro barkeeps while next-door but tango takes care of the grub--everything from tacos to empanadas and Jamaican jerk pork. If you don’t want to partake in the Caribbean-style food, there are plenty of board games for you—dominoes, cribbage and dice. But the real game is trying to find a rum they don’t have in stock; there’s more than 200 selections behind the bar.
