Tips for Firestone Complete Auto Care Store

Consistently Helpful. I've been using Firestone for 5 years now, and I have to disagree with the other reviews. We have taken our Prius in twice in the last year to have the brakes checked, and both times that have said that there is plenty of life left in the brakes, and we didn't need to do anything. We get our cars regularly serviced here, and they have never suggested doing anything more.

Once, a dealer told me that my water pump needed replacing (they had my car for a mandatory safety check). I took the car to Firestone for a regular service, and they also pointed out that the water pump was leaking slightly and would need replacing at some point in the future. They said that it wasn't necessary now, but if I suddenly saw a large pool of water on the floor, then I should being it in straight away. That was over a year ago!

I have overheard them suggesting things to customers, but it always seemed clear to me which were suggestions that should be done soon, and which could wait. It's one of the reasons I keep going back!

Finding thing wrong that others don't. Firestone routinely finds things wrong with my car that are rather costly, but when I take it into another shop for a second opinion, they state that there isn't anything wrong. I get the sense that Firestone tries to hook a customer into getting costly unnecessary repairs performed, rather than being honest and upfront to gain the customers confidence so they would return and state good things about their 'car mechanic'. This perceived deception has really turned me off to having anything they say as needing repairs performed with them.

Really?. I took my 18" wheels and tires into this shop to get them mounted. I was told "I'm not going to mount your tires." The reason? Because the wheels are to big and could break their machine. Really, 18" wheels are too big? However if I choose to buy $1,000 worth of tires from them then they will be happy to mount them. What? I'll be sure to never use this place for any of my future car repair and maintenance use.
