Shanik, possibly the most hyped new restaurant to hit Seattle in 2012 thanks to its super flavorful Indian food, is spicy to the max. Fondly referred to as "Vij's Seattle”—after the uber-popular Vancouver, BC restaurant from Shanik's chef/owner Meeru Dhalwala, the resto has been attracting lines since it’s opening in South Lake Union. Come Hungry and ready to try some truly mouthwatering dishes like the divine Portobello mushroom and rapini/mustard green curry

With all the hype long before the doors opened expectations have been elevated. That could be the death of a restaurant, but thankfully the place delivered. Excellent service, although admittedly we had so many people tending to us it was a bit confusing. The food was flavorful with the exception of the Indian Crepe which was mind blowing! Wear a sweater, the room was chilly, and save your paneer eating for elsewhere. But don't miss the goat, shortribs and that crepe!

Lunch is coming in Feb but for now go to dinner early to avoid the lines. From 5pm until 6:30 tables are yours for the taking. After that things get a bit crazy. Don't miss the eggplant, the short ribs and the lamb lolipops.
