Editorial Review for Lindey's – by Terry Ward Libby

The Scene
This restaurant is housed in one of the finest restored structures in the Village, dating from the 1850s. Floor-to-ceiling windows in the main dining room look out on gas-lit Beck Street. On snowy winter nights, packed with boisterous diners, it looks just like a Christmas card.

The Food
The fare leans toward proven traditional preparation styles and rarely bows to food trends. New Zealand lamb chops are neatly placed around a mound of garlic mashed potatoes, dressed with red wine veal jus and topped with crispy fried leeks. Crab cakes, as a dinner or appetizer, come with a Creole mustard sauce. Be sure to try the lobster garganelli: pasta served in a cream sauce of lobster meat, asparagus and tomato. For dessert, the vanilla bean creme brulee is creamy and much in demand.

Perhaps the best Lobster Bisque in all the world...and if you doubt that, then you have not been to Lindey's. The service is spectacular and the food leaves the taste palate in blissful disarray. Reservation highly recommended. Ask for a quiet room if the "main" room too busy. Columbus apparently has a trend for noisy atmosphere in it's restaurants--but Lindey's manages to keep a classic romance, yet still adhere to this mantra. The patio is incredible in the summer. Can't wait to try to Sunday Brunch menu!

Pros: Great Food, Charming Location, Classy

Cons: Parking

A lovely restaurant in a beautifully restored building in German Village, serving traditional American fare.  See the full editorial review.
