Treasure in Auburn

This Greek/Italian restaurant, set up in a lovely home with beautiful decor, has given me and my husband the most authentic Greek dining experience we've ever had. The service was expedient and extremely warm. The owner greeted us with a youthful bounce down the stairs; his manner was genuine and casual. The Dolmathes, a tasty appetizer with rice and chicken wrapped in grape leaves was the perfect palatal experience with contrasting textures. My husband ate his Kota Psiti voraciously, leaving nothing but bone of this Greek-style prepared chicken. I had the best gyro I've eaten in 10 years. My first cup of Greek coffee was like no other coffee I'd ever tasted. It was dark but had such beautiful rich flavor. Finding Kouros Kuisine in Auburn was one of the best discoveries while honeymooning in Seattle. It's a great intimate spot for romance and privacy (for now, until lots more discover how wonderful it is).
- Pros: Ambience, Service, Diverse Menu
- Cons: Location
So-So food

We each had the $18.00 sampler: souvlaki (1 lamb for spouse, 1 beef for self)- they were dry, flavorless, and very small pieces of meat on very small skewers (5 inches); spanikopita (spinach triangles in filo), very dry, flavorless, and the spinach filling reminded me of canned spinach; dolmathe- dry, flavorless; baby carrots, not cooked- warm and crunchy; moussaka- the only item on the plate that had any flavor, though it was not great. The Greek red wine was good...reminder me of a Merlot. The salad that came with the meal was ho-hum. I wish I could say that we'll return, but I'm afraid we won't unless the owners start to take pride in the food they make. It could have been so much better...what a shame.
- Pros: Decent wine menu, including Greek wines
- Cons: Food is dry and flavorless
Excellent Hidden Greek Restaurant

The service was quick, the food amazing, and the atmosphere wonderful. It may appear a little strange from the outside, but do not be deceived, this restaurant is certainly a wonderful find.
The menu was also quite good, offering you a choice from Greek, Mediterranean, or Italian, as well as appetizers and a nice array of wines. The food was absolutely amazing, and the chicken I had was one of the best prepared and seasoned that I have ever tasted.
Although the restaurant is a little out of the way, you will certainly not be disappointed if you choose to drive the extra length to reach it.
Even if Greek is not that appealing or you're on the fence as I was before eating there, I wholeheartedly believe you will enjoy it.
- Pros: Food, service, and atmosphere
- Cons: Location - hidden and somewhat far from Seattle
