Has Gone Downhill
by pnwvk
I am so sad to say this local landmark has gone downhill. I am willing to pay for exceptional food but the last few times we came here, the food was just average. Our bill today came to $28. One Italian scramble, one donut, one cinnamon roll. Two orange juices and one apple juice and one coffee.
The scramble was nowhere near as good as it used to be. The sausage tasted old. It was a huge portion, that part hasn't changed. The cinnamon roll was half dry and chewy (the interior was good) and the last 3 or 4 rolls have been the same. The worst part?
They used to serve fresh squeezed orange juice. We got frozen concentrate, and each glass was $3.75. Wow. I can't recommend this place anymore :(.
- Pros: Great View of Mt Rainier
- Cons: Pricey for Average Food
Poor customer service

I received a gift certificate for the restaurant.. They refused to honor the certificate because it said it was for dinner. They do not serve dinner until evening which we did not know when we went for an early dinner.
I feel they should have honored the certificate anyway, thereby assuring future business from a satisfied customer. They just alienated a potential future customer. I will definitely not recommend them to anyone because of their attitude.
- Pros: Food is good
- Cons: Customer service is terrible
awesome breakfast!
by sconey_mccheese
i go to this bakery/restaurant 3-4 times a month. its now the only place i eat breakfast. their omelette's are outstanding and always fluffy and perfectly cooked. they come with a side of perfectly crispy hash browns. the coffee they serve is delicious. the baked goods they offer are on the rustic side, but they are very delicious.
this is a cute old fashioned bakery where you can fill your gut and be satisfied all day for a reasonable price.
there is a long wait on the weekends, but thats because its "THE" place to be for breakfast, and well worth the wait. i havent had their lunch or dinner only because i love their breakfast so much!
- Pros: very nice servers, ample parking, good food- good price
- Cons: bit of a wait on weekends.
Splendor in the Country

The view of Mt. Rainier is spectacular on a sunny day, and the short drive through "old town" one takes to get to The Bakery is almost enough. But the food is the topper. Try the sausage gravy on homecooked biscuits. Or the Bakery-cured smoked ham, either with fried eggs or as part of the excellent Eggs Benedict. And be careful not to go in the bakery until after breakfast, or you'll fill up on all the wonderful items available
- Pros: good parking, excellent food, great view
- Cons: often crowded
Breakfast after the wait
by nwsailor
The food is good and plentiful. The service is sometimes great and sometimes so-so. You can count on waiting at least 30 to 60 minutes on the weekends. Try the four by four for breakfast.
- Pros: good food
- Cons: too crowded

The food is great and very generous; best to go on the weekdays as the weekends are packed!
