Food OK but very spicy, service bad, expensive for what you get by Joan T. at InsiderPages

We saw the menu and wanted to try this restaurant, hoping for more unique authentic Mexican food.

We had the seafood empanadas - the filling was good but they were deep fried and very crispy, we were expecting something lighter from a restaurant that say they do healthy food.

The salsas that came with the chips were so spicy they were uneatable - we had to mix it with the cheese spread that also came (we will eat what most people consider medium spicy and love the flavors but when it burns your mouth and stomach continually after finishing your bite of food that is too much for us).

I think the owner was taking our own. I asked about the spiciness of one of the fish dishes and was told it was pretty spicy. I said the salsas were too spicy for us. I asked about a fish dish made with mild chiles and got a nod saying it was ok, so ordered it. This dish was very spicy, more than I would have liked, not what I consider mild at all. I had to make sure I got no extra sauce on the fish or it would be way to spicy. The fish was decent but on the dry side (previously frozen? though the menu said it was the fresh catch of the day). We also got the burrito chipolte. The burrito was so spicy it was pretty uneatable - it was spicier than the salsas. I don't know why we were not told that when we had said the salsas were too spicy for us. Service was spotty, the owner who took the order was ok, but a young man who was clearing dishes actually asked if he could take our appetizer dishes when we were still eating, saying our entrees were coming and he needed to make room (there was 2 of us at a table for 4, plenty of room), we said we needed a few more minutes. He then asked if he could have the plate the appetizer came on, so we moved the remaining food onto our individual plates. We felt this was very rude of him to ask this. We finished our appetizers a few minutes la

GREAT FOOD & FANTASTIC MARGARITAS!

by shkell at Citysearch

I usually don't write reviews however the last review was so horrible I just had to write. It is true the salsa isn't anything special however so many of their dishes are great and they make the absolute best margaritas. We usually have Don Julio which is only $7.50 and a good size drink. Most restaurants give you poor quality wine for the same price. We found that the less expensive enchiladas and burritos ($12)were better than the fancier dishes and you get a lot of food. The Mole Poblano Enchilada is to die for. The sauce is fantastic.

Avoid the place

by Afficianado at Citysearch

Nothing positive about the restaurant other than the decor and perhaps the live musician!

The food is absolutely bland - sucked out of any flavor. A Mexican restaurant without a signature salsa is unthinkable and somehow this place has managed to do that.

Service is pathetic - not because they aren't hard working but because they don't have enough people to do the chores.

  • Pros: Decor
  • Cons: Everything else

Best in Seattle area

Excellent food. Anything with their chipole sauce is especially good. I would go there just for their rice and beans.

  • Pros: Inexpensive Lunch
  • Cons: Good parking

Gormet Mexican

Frida's is truly a different dining experience. Most other Mexican restaraunts are just a 'me-too' experience. Look for coupons, they often have buy one meal, get one free... Even without coupons, their prices are similar to Azteca, but the atmosphere is much nicer and the food is great!

  • Pros: cozy atmosphere, original menu
