Make room for an extra large side of EGO!

by cnbsceneseattle

First, it took me over 4 years to return. Then I thought, why was I so pasionate about not ever dining here again? Not only does this place reek of over the top egos, toss in some rudness topped with extremely slow service and you start to recall. Over an hour for a meal, 20 mins for bread, on a Thursday with ample open seating. I was treated inappropriatly and offended. This 'customer service' trait seems to prevail here at "JaK's Grill". How I, and, my out of town guests were treated is nothing to be proud of. The BOLD taste of distain is all I left with ...that and the power of the internet! Word of mouth. I doubt I will have this over-rated establishment quaking in their boots, but "if I tell 2 friends..." bad press is not good press. Dining here -take your chances ...NEVER going back!

Not very impressed

by scanff

Wow, I was very disappointed with the whole experience.

We called to make a reservation but were told they did not take reservations. After showing up we had to wait about an hour to be seated (I've actually since been told this is quick!).

We all ordered a steak meal which comes with a salad and bread. The salad was basically iceberg lettuce with a little oil and vinegar dripped on it, not really what I'd expect from this kind of restaurant.

The service was poor, we had to ask for refills several times.

We got our steaks which came with two small veggies and a tablespoon of potatoes. That's OK I though the steak looks big. I got a third into eating my steak when I realized that the other two thirds was marbled grizzle, I could not eat it. Maybe my dog would have liked it though.

I really felt ripped off and to top it off I had to stop and get fast food on the way home.

If you're into flushing money down the toilet, Jak's is the place to go!

Love it.

by LaCrossMom

They are now open for lunch. I love to take out-of-town guests there. The steaks and potato pancakes are delicious.

Go before 5 p.m. if you don't want to wait and then you can have a relaxing dinner.

The desserts are too sweet, lack variety, and remind me of corporate restaurant desserts. They may be made there, but they don't taste as if they are. I recently had the creme brulee. It's big, but it lacks true vanilla flavor, sophistication, and the fine, rich, creamy quality of the real article.

  • Pros: Great food, attentive service, nice wine list
  • Cons: So-so desserts; long wait if you don't go early

Racial taunt by staff - DO NOT PATRONIZE

by ChitaMendoza

We are great fans of fine meat so we went to Jaks on the basis of word of mouth. The meat here is not of a quality I would say meets even choice grading, much less prime. The meat was firstly overcooked but the quality was substandard so we brought this to the waitress' attention. Next thing we know we have the manager at our table asnd he makes the statement, "I didn't know you people knew about prime beef!" We are hispanic and proud. I cannot fathom why we were sunbected to this outrage. We demand you boycott this establishment.

  • Cons: Racial epitaph used by staff! Please do not patronize!

Exceptionally bad experience

by ProudPunjabi

We waited way too long to get a table - it must have been almost two hours - butthe real disappointment was the food. I don't have a problem paying upwards of 50 bucks for a great cut of steak. At Jak's I paid that much for a mediocre steak. It was pretty piss-poor, actually. Take my advice and take your biz to Daniel's, the Met, or even Mortons. Jaks is really bad in every way - food, service, and quality of food

  • Cons: Tough piece of meat was definitely not worth the money

Long wait only to be insulted

by bronzedAbs

The wait hee was almost two hours. We orederd our meal only to find the meat substandard. I brought this to the attention of the staff and ended up getting harangued! I mean the manager insulted me as to my knowledge of meat and food prep! I am a customer, damn them! I will not be insulted in this way. I can not recommend this place in any way!

  • Cons: Insulted by manager!

Ridiculous wait, surly service, over priced, medicore quality food

by KjellBoots

We waited a long time to get a table. What put me off though was not the 90 minute wait but the sour attitude of the girls working the maitre'd stand. They were poorly trained and vapid - forget about getting any info. They were more concerned talking to each other about boyfriends and the night's activities. Theyt knew people were waiting to speak with them but they continued their vacuous discussion about the afternoon's tanning salon session.

Finally seated but the service continued to be very slow. We ordered starters, wine, and entrees. Everything was lacking - presentation, temperature control, and quality of ingredients. The meat could not have been anything close to prime (which is proclaimed loudly on the menu, by the way...)

The bill for three approached $400! This was ridiculous in every regard. We will not go back to this grosslyy over rated place. Do yourself a favor and get some prime steaks at Fisher's across the street! Jak's is for the birds and fools who submit to their hype.

  • Cons: Everything at this dump was terrible but it is sad to pay so much for such mediocre fare. really!

On par with Outback

by SnohomishSlim

I guess if you live in Issaquah, are loaded and don't want to drive very far then this is your place. I was so disappointed after hearing multiple people rave about Jak's. What were they thinking? The food wasn't necessarily aweful and the service was very good but for a meal that was over $100 for two people I expected much better. My wife and I both had the steak Delmonico which was supposed to be prime. We arrived late so maybe they had run out of meat and had to purchase whatever Safeway had left in their freezer. Speaking of the freezer, I wonder how long my desert had been sitting there as it tasted of freezer burn. I would have given Jak's 1 star but the service was actually really good in that our server was prompt and provided a good recommendation for the wine. Also, when I told the gal that I didn't enjoy the desert she gave it to us for free. If you are going to spend the money for a good steak Jak's is not the place to go. Stick with classics such as The Met or Daniel's.

Better than a sitcom but sadly true

by JeffersonsScribe

One cannot imagine a more terrible experience. The food was exceptionally bad in quality, preparation, and presentation. We had steak and each was ill-prepared by the kitchen. No matter really as the meat quality was marginal with lots of gristle and tendons. The wine card was promising but they must be storing it in an oven as we ordered three bottles and each was off. We told our waiter about this and he told us that the wine was fine! The final indignity was the toilet - the bowl was clogged up by someone and the manager accused us of choking it up with fecal matter! That was really enough and we left in disgust.

  • Cons: This was like a circus...we won't be back!

Savage behaviour of staff

by WineSniffer

We had dinner here last night. The food was pretty average but that is not the reason I am posting. No. During the meal I happened to get up to use the Gent's. My business was light and quick and I was in and out in less than two minutes. After about 10 minutes the female manager comes over to the table and loudly accuses me of having choked up the bowl in the men's toilet! I was speechless but I realized that every eye in the room was squarely on me - I have never been so humilated, ever! I protested that it wasn't I who commited this outrage but I am still not sure why she was accusing me as the correct course of action would have been to address the problem discreetly by unplugging the toilet. In any event, she seemed to want to accuse me of causing the problem but didn't seem to want me to do anything about it. What this public outburst did, however, was spoil the appetite of everyone in the dining room. She was loudly talking about the bowl being choked up with fecal matter. This ruined the meal and people began to get up to leave. We did too but this is when she starts screaming for payment for our meal. I told her she ruind the meal and we would not be paying for it! She now wants us to pay for the others who are leaving as I caused this whole scene! I was speechless! Utterly without words! The last I heard was her screeching about calling the police on me. This was a terrible experience. I recommend strongly that you give this place a miss.
