Kidd Valley was once just a humble burger shack in the U-Village neighborhood catering to college kids and 1950s nostalgia-seekers. Now it's a full-blown local chain with 10 locations and a list of fans that's as big as the phone book. For many, burgers act as merely an excuse to order the sweet french-fried onions, the fried mushrooms and the creamy fruit shakes. Some opt for the hot ham-and-Swiss or the grilled chicken sandwiches.

Not too shabby

I have been to this one several times, and lunch time is VERY busy. Trying to find a seat is difficult and the line often goes out the door. Service is quick tho. Burgers are huge, fries are excellent and I rarely end up with something I dont like.

• Pros: big portions, quick service
• Cons: overly busy at lunch

The best burgers

I think these burgers are the best and the fries. Love them so much better than Red Robin or Burgermaster. A must try!
