Feels Like Home
by SheltieOne
I love going to this store. It is nice to go to a place that doesn't have twenty million people in it. I hate going to the big book stores because they are so busy and every seat in the place is taken. This one has some really interesting items in it and the people who own the store have been in Parkplace for years. This is the place to go when you are looking for something and need some help finding it. You will have their undivided attention.
- Pros: They have books you may not find elsewhere
- Cons: Location
One of the last havens for Eastside bibiophiles and independent bookstore supporters.

The Scene
If you wept during "You've Got Mail" when Meg Ryan's character is forced to close her beloved children's bookstore, you'll love the Parkplace Book Company. The store is locally owned and staffed by book lovers who are happy to help customers find what they need. Recommendations inscribed on paper slips pepper the store's tall shelves. If a book isn't in stock, they can usually get it within one to three business days. Moms and Dads will appreciate the large selection of books on parenting, as well as the colorful and inviting children's section with both new bestsellers and timeless classics. Writers will find a section just for them, as well as comfy chairs and good lighting to browse and hang out.
The Goods
This is not Costco. Although some books are discounted, most books and magazines are full price. However, you'll get expert customer service, free gift wrapping, and every 13th book free, if you sign up for their Booklover's card.
A Gem!
by pbown49
The Parkplace Book Company is an undiscovered gem for those of us living on the east side. Located in the Parkplace Shopping Center in Kirkland, the store is well stocked with an excellent selection of fiction, non-fiction and children's books. It is in the process of expanding, and promises to be even better! I would urge all eastsiders to support their independent book dealers.
- Pros: Good service, Good selection, Independent!
- Cons: Not easy to find, Parking (sometimes)
Snobby and Pretentious!
by Miyu
For crying out loud - it's a book store people! You walk in browse... the sales people are SNOTTY.... They didn't say a word to me while I was browsing in the store for at least 15 minutes - eventually, they started following me around, as if I were to steal one of their books. Staff is snobby and pretentious.... they act if they are selling fine wine..
- Pros: Location, Easy to find books, Book catagories clear
- Cons: Snobby Salespeople, PretentiousAtmosphere, Bad SERVICE!
