Local Hangout

The Roanoke is a great pub wedged into a nice, quiet Mercer Island neighborhood.
You know the neighbors have been probably trying to get this place closed down
for years, but they haven't been successful yet.
Great place for lunch on a nice summer day, good brews and food.
This quaint Inn near the island's ferry dock is a pit stop for visitors and locals alike.

The Scene
Working stiffs and millionaires stop off at this residential location for a Blue Paddle and some friendly ambiance. The Inn has been around for almost 100 years, long before Mercer Island became some of the priciest real estate in the Northwest. In early days it reportedly hosted dancing girls and prohibition-era drinking, but now it's simply a warm and friendly place, with a toasty fire going on cold nights.
The Draw
The back room lacks a bit of the main room's charm, but it's the perfect place to grab a meal in a lively, smoke-free setting.
The food ranges from Wings of Fire (which truly are) to rib-eye steaks served with baked potato. Salads, sandwiches and daily dinner specials are all on the menu but it's the Mexican food that's worth a try.
Roanoke on Sunday afternoon

This is a great spot in the summer. You can sit in either the "beer garden" or on the porch. The owners have done a great job of preserving a "taven-like" feel with a Yuppie group of customers. Service can be slow but is friendly and energetic. Are applying for a liquor permit
- Pros: good beer selection, good pub grub
- Cons: not rapid service
